Slow into stride and tightened shortly after. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, jockey J. Stanley stated that he would have preferred to settle in a more forward position, however after commencing moderately he was forced to settle midfield. Jockey Stanley added that the gelding was under pressure from the 700m and inclined to hang out. He further stated he had some difficulty obtaining clear running near the 300m and in his opinion the gelding is one paced and would appreciate a step up in distance.
