Day reported that the mare felt awkward in its action over the final 100m of the race and he was reluctant to pressure it. Stewards directed that STYLE LINE undergo a veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Stewards permitted the mare to race in blinkers as it had at its last start in Mackay despite the gear change failing to make the race book. Began awkwardly and bumped with RAINBOW SPARKLES at the start. Held up for clear running until near the 50 metres and went to the line without being fully tested.

Held up approaching the 300m. Shifted in in an attempt to obtain clear running between MALKARA and POTEMKIN however was disappointed and obliged to ease to the outside of POETMKIN approaching the 200m. Shortly after was tightened when racing ungenerously and hanging in when attempting a run between TURKEY BEACH and POTEMKIN near the 100m. Jockey Evans then eased wider on the course to obtain a clear run to the finish. Jockey Evans reported that the gelding raced with its head high and hung at various stages of the event.
