When quest rdr stated he expected to settle handy/mid posn however mount worked into fwd posn with minimal effort. Rdr stated app 1st turn mount was 4 wide, in a line of 7 horses, all leading posn with not rider showing any clear intent to lead or take sit. Rdr stated he elected to continue working fwd gradually & established lead near 800m. Rdr stated he kept on bridle until straightening where mount responded fairly to pressure before weakeing over final 200m. Rdr stated mounts 1st attempt at 1400m & it would be better suited ridden with cover to sustain finishing effort. P/R vet - thumps.
