Following Apprentice N. Morton being stood down and after exceeding to a request from trainer W. Baker, Jockey C. Bryen was permitted to ride five kilograms overweight due to no other rider being available. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding jockey C. Bryen advised that in his opinion the pace was too fast for the horse in the early stages of today’s event. He added that when rounding the home turn, the pace weakened and he was able to make up ground quickly. He further added that in his opinion the gelding would be more suited to a longer distance.

Connections were advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance and must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to being permitted to race again
