Reckless Choice Over-raced during the early stages when being restrained. After beginning fairly from an awkward gate was unable to muster speed to race in a forward position and therefore Jockey R Plumb elected to restrain his mount to obtain a position towards the rear closer to the rail. Jockey Plumb explained that it was not his intention to race in a rearward position but after being caught wide early he felt this was the best option to give his horse a chance to finish the race off. Hinterland Sam Change of tactics. To be ridden further back in the field if circumstances permit. Apprentice T. Williams was asked to comment on her reasons for riding the horse the horse in a forward position. Miss Williams confirmed she had been instructed to ride the horse further back in the field, however the horse began the race very well and rather than dramatically restrain the horse she elected to shift across to the fence when a view that horses to the outside may cross her and afford her cover. However this did not occur and she was obliged to race in the forward half of the field. Stewards noted Sunshine Coast 06/05/2018
My Blue Thunder Trainer T. Cotsiopoulos was fined $200 for presenting the gelding to race at today’s meeting with hind plates on both hooves which were unsuitable for racing. Raced wide. Sunshine Coast 06/05/2018

Liberty Lass D. Browne was asked to comment on the horse’s performance. He indicated that it had been his intention to ride in a forward position, however, the filly began awkwardly and was slow to muster speed and he was therefore obliged to take up a position in the second half of the field where the horse did not race comfortably and was somewhat field shy. He added that in his opinion the horse is better suited to rain-affected track conditions and that today’s good surface may have had a bearing on the performance.
