Wired Began awkwardly and lost ground. Ridden along in the early stages however lost contact with the field from the 800m. Rdr said mount did not feel right in its action and as a result was eased out of the race. Post race vet exam revealed horse to be lame in the near fore leg. Vet cert req. Cranbourne 05/07/2018
Coonowrin Ruby When steadied near the 800m commenced to hang out and shift wider on the track, inconveniencing another runner. Then continued to hang out until entering the home straight. Sunshine Coast 07/10/2018

O’Dea advised that the horse would likely be sent for a spell, and in light of today’s performance he would report back to stewards if anything came to light in the coming days that may have had a bearing on today’s performance. Grim Reaper Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers when blood was noticed in the gelding’s mouth and was passed fit to start. Doomben 09/06/2018

Dulcie Tie Raced greenly after overracing for a short distance near the 800m and shifted out abruptly and then raced three wide without cover from that point onwards. Pinch Legend Change of tactics. Connections advised that the horse would be ridden back in the field from the wide alley. Subsequently the horse was ridden accordingly in the second half of the field, however was unable to obtain cover and raced 3 wide as a result. Stewards questioned jockey D. Smith regarding the tactics he adopted from the 600m. Du Plessis was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account his record regarding breaches of this rule. Shockfactor Bumped on jumping & steadied when tightened shortly after. Rounding 1st turn was checked & shifted very wide on the track to avoid a fallen rider. When quest re perf. rdr stated mount settled at tail of field & lost ground when avoiding a fallen rider rounding 1st turn. Rdr added mount failed to travel strongly for the remainder of the event & was reluctant to stretch out in the straight. P/R vet exam found no ab other than a small laceration to off fore leg. Roman Doll Lost ground when under pressure leaving the 600m. Jockey Cassidy reported at this stage of the race the horse may have resented racing amongst horses and was under pressure to hold its position He added however that his mount responded to his riding after leaving the 400m and had difficulty securing clear running between the 300m and 200m. Prepee Stable representative Mr A. Homan was questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance. He indicated that the stable had expected a forward showing in today’s event, adding the mare had had a brief spell after performing poorly in Townsville on 21 July, which he believed could be attributed to the horse not travelling well in the trip to Townsville. He indicated prior to this, the horse’s form had been good and stated that at Doomben on 7 July the horse had worked hard when ridden forward to obtain the lead in the early stages from a wide barrier.
