Near the 1300m when shifting in to obt cover behind another rnr was steadied when awk placed on that rnr's heels. Rdr std antic mount, which was racing over 1600m for 1st time today would settle outside the lead, however, when rnr's drawn to the inside showed superior speed, was obl to settle 3 wide albeit with cover just in behind the speed. Added mount raced greenly thereafter & was disap in its failure to finish its race off. A post race vet exam did not rev any abs. Co-trn concurred with views of rdr & undertook to report back.

Further std, after rounding 1st turn, antic other rnr's impr & as a result was left racing in a position on pace.

A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which commenced to weaken from the 400m, revealed no significant abnormalities at the time of examination. A swab sample was taken from the gelding. Stable representative M. Currie was advised that the gelding must compete in an official barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next start.

When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance and also with regard to the noticeable firming in the market, co-trainer B Rodgers explained that the stable was not entirely disappointed with its first run back from a lengthy spell and added that the filly made a significant fitness improvement from that run and whilst not overly expecting the filly to win, he was however confident of an improved performance. Stewards accepted his explanation.

When questioned re disappointing performance, Jockey B Thornton stated that after working hard early to obtain lead, he was hopeful of gaining some slow sectionals through the middle however when joined in the lead by STORMY LEO was obliged to travel stronger than intended. As a result was unable to finish as expected and proved disappointing. Post-race vet ex. revealed a poor post-race recovery rate.
