A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying airway congestion in conjunction with a respiratory condition. Trainer D Vandyke was advised that an endoscopic examination must be produced prior to the gelding’s next start. Subsequently cleared.

Rdr stated mount felt reluctant to let down on rain affected going. Tnr stated gelding was resuming after lengthy spell but had pleased in 2 recent trials. Only expl he could offer was geld did not appreciate Soft (7) conditions. P/R vet exam no ab's.

On arrival at the barriers and at the request of the rider underwent went a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Rider reported horse made an abnormal respiratory noise during the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer S Mackinnon gave an undertaking to report back any condition which may come to light in the coming days to explain the performance. Mr Mackinnon reported that no abnormalities could be detected and the horse was sent for a short spell.

When questioned in relation to the performance of the mare which drifted noticeably in betting, Jockey S Thornton stated that after the mare began only fairly, she elected to ride toward the rear of the field during the event. She added that the mare only travelled reasonably during the middle stages and approaching the home turn hit a flat spot and failed to immediately quicken as she had of hoped. Jockey Thornton however added that upon straightening the mare commenced to run on well despite hanging in slightly and as such was satisfied with its performance.
