when asked to comment on below market performance, rider P Romeo stated the gelding travelled well in the early stages of the event, however when placed under pressure leaving the 500 metres was quickly under pressure and failed to finish the race off as expected. Trainer S Smith stated the horse was first up today and, in his opinion, did not appreciate the sand surface. A post-race Veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.

Approaching the 200 metres had its hindquarters turned out, was inconvenienced when DREAMLAND raced keenly, and shifted out making heavy contact. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer advised a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness would be required prior to presenting the horse for a future trial or race.
