When questioned in regards to the tactics adopted today, jockey advised stewards it was not his intention to lead, however after beginning well the gelding commenced to over-race and as such he elected to allow the horse to race in a forward position. He also added that blinkers were back on the horse today, which may have contributed to the gelding racing strongly in the middle stages. His explanation was noted.
