Apprentice Keal indicated he had been instructed to allow the horse to settle in the early stages because it has not raced favourably when ridden aggressively in the early stages. Those instructions were confirmed by trainer T. Thomas. He added that he therefore attempted to restrain to a position closer to the rails, however he was unable to obtain a position one off the fence and, as a result, he was obliged to race 3 wide.

Capewell reported that at its first start for the stable the gelding suffered cardiac arrhythmia which was the contributing factor to the horse’s poor performance on that occasion. He added that the gelding has since worked and jumped out well in preparation for today’s event. Stewards noted the explanation.
