White could offer no explanation for the seemingly disappointing performance other than that the gelding had been inclined to overrace which may have been detrimental to its finishing sprint. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Whilst weakening near the 400m was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of runner.
