Substitution Due to the noticeable betting drift, was examined by the veterinary surgeon upon arrival at the barriers and passed suitable to race. Held up rounding the home turn. Following the event stewards questioned trainer T Lambourne who advised that the gelding since arriving at his stable had worked well and in addition had trailed well in preparation for todays event. Point Break Near the 100m was eased when hampered. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer representative could offer no explanation for the gelding’s disappointing performance and reported the gelding had recovered well from the event. Cast its near hind plate in running. Jockey J Guthmann-Chester expressed disappointment in the performance of the gelding which he advised travelled well until a point near the 600m, however when placed under pressure from this point, failed to respond to his riding as he had anticipated. Mass Destruction Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding the geldings’ performance, jockey R. Maloney stated that his mount failed to quicken when placed under pressure on entering the home straight but was able to find momentum late and finish the race off well. Je Suis Belle Jumped away awkwardly. The saddle shifted back on jumping resulting in the mare attempting to buck shortly after the start. Jockey B. Loy reported that his saddle shifting placed him at severe disadvantage throughout resulting in him unable to fully ride the mare out. Kisukano Slow to begin. Put in an awkward stride and became unbalanced near the 350m. Jockey M Du Plessis advised that in his opinion the mare was reluctant to stretch out on the firm racing surface when placed under pressure and in his opinion was disappointing. Chatty Lady Stewards questioned jockey J. Orman in regards to his riding out of the mare over the concluding stages, in particular, his right arm being extended while riding out to the line. Jockey Orman stated that he was unaware that his arm was extended as far as it was and he could only attribute it to having a loose rain when trying to maintain a straight line over the concluding stages.
