As part of its reconciliation journey, Racing Queensland is seeking expressions of interest from First Nations peoples within the industry to join its newly formed Reconciliation Cultural Working Group (CWG).
As part of the CWG, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants are encouraged to get involved – representing their community and their people – by making a meaningful contribution to advancing reconciliation within the Queensland racing industry.
In order to be successful, you will have a strong connection and/or existing relationships with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples and organisations in your community. If selected, your commitment would be a one-hour virtual meeting every quarter.
RQ’S INNOVATE RAP
RQ’s vision for reconciliation is to foster and maintain respectful, trusting and mutually beneficial relationships. This can be achieved by providing employment and business opportunities, as well as raising awareness of, and connecting the Queensland racing industry to, the traditional custodians of the land across the Sunshine State.
RQ will champion reconciliation by demonstrating cultural diversity and inclusivity, and by being authentic in its aspirations to lead the racing industry to close the gap.
RQ launched its inaugural Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan in September 2020, and in the process, became the first racing body across the nation to do so. RQ’s RAP was endorsed by Reconciliation Australia, joining a network of more than 1100 corporate, government and not-for-profit organisations that have made a formal commitment to reconciliation. With 35 deliverables completed in its Reflect RAP, RQ has commenced its journey towards an Innovate RAP.
HOW DO I APPLY?
Please submit your EOI to email@example.com by close of business on March 1, 2022.
In your EOI, please state why you would like to join the Reconciliation CWG and what reconciliation means to you and your region.
Alternatively, if you’re unable to commit to joining the Reconciliation CWG, you will have an opportunity to submit ideas or recommend local contacts for advancing reconciliation in your region. You can do this by sending an email to RQ’s RAP working group at firstname.lastname@example.org.
