The last sods of grass have been laid at Eagle Farm, marking an important stage in the remediation of the track to return to its status as Queensland’s premier racing venue.
Over the past two days more than 3500 square metres of turf has been carefully placed on the compacted and tested sand profile representing about 40 pallets of Grand Prix Couch.
The final section of track, from the 1700 to 1800 metre mark, will now be watered and rolled to assist the grass to take to the profile and establish the root structure.
The project control group and maintenance control group (MCG) have reported substantial improvement in the growth of the established sections of the track over the past few weeks.
The MCG has now taken control of the track as it grows into the profile. The group of RQ and BRC officials will now water and apply nutrients to the track to ensure the healthy growth continues.
