Commenced

Cluden Park is a heritage-listed, multipurpose venue uniquely placed as the home of horse racing in North Queensland.

The host of signature social events in Townsville, including the iconic Townsville Cup, Cluden Park is positioned on over 53 hectares of private, lush acreage featuring distinctive nineteenth century architecture with a modern aesthetic.

The facilities at the Club have recently undergone a $12,000,000 upgrade including:

  • Public and members’ stand;
  • New building for jockeys and stewards;
  • Racetrack upgrade; and
  • 100 new raceday stalls.

The racecourse provides significant residual land which provides no operational benefit to the Turf Club.

This land is well serviced and well positioned to allow for separate access and serviceability, which subsequently is ideal to release for future development.

Project Update

Townsville Turf Club and Racing Queensland have undertaken engineering and town planning investigations to determine which areas of the Cluden Park Racecourse can be effectively released for development.

The largest development component sits on the north western portion of the site encompassing three main sites which equate to approximately 12 hectares of developable land.

A range of development, tenancy and occupation opportunities exist across a broad variety of land use types and zoning. Some of these include but are not restricted to:

  • Commercial;
  • Industrial;
  • Medical & health;
  • Residential (varying density possibilities);
  • Manufactured home estate/land lease options;
  • Retirement; and
  • Aged care

Updates on the masterplanning process for Cluden Racecourse will be provided as the project progresses.
