Inverell trainer Shane Edmonds is hopeful of another successful hit and run raid to the Sunshine Coast on Saturday with stablemates Mishani Sleuth and Girl In A Million.

Mishani Sleuth drew barrier one in his attempt for successive wins in the Konami Gaming Benchmark 85 Handicap (1200m) while Girl In A Million drew the outside gate in the Angoves Wines Open Handicap (1100m).

Edmonds had planned to aim both sprinters for the $1.3 million Kosciuszko at Randwick in October but has had a change of heart.

“The original plan was to aim both of them for the Kosciuszko but we’ve decided to save Girl In A Million for other races,” Edmonds said.

Girl In A Million started her career with Toowoomba’s Ben Currie but was transferred by owner Mick Crooks to Edmonds after she failed at Doomben in October.

The four-year-old has started four times for Edmonds for two wins and a Rosehill failure before a last start fourth in Class Six company at the Gold Coast on August 18.

“She’s going great but she’s drawn bad so we’ll make a decision later to see if she starts,” Edmonds said.

“They’re predicting rain so that won’t be a problem as she’s had two starts on soft tracks for two wins.

“Mike (Crooks) sent her to me to try and win some BOBS races with her but she was a bit late coming down and we only got one race out of her.

“She’s going good but we’re still trying to work her out while teaching her to settle.

“She won well at Coffs Harbour at the start of the month but she was trapped wide in her last run at the Gold Coast.”

Girl In A Million won three of her seven starts for Currie before maintaining her unblemished first-up record when she won on debut for Edmonds at Tamworth in June.

Mishani Sleuth will be given the chance to progress to the world’s richest country race, The Kosciuszko, following his easy win at Doomben last Saturday.

“He’s pulled up well since his Doomben win and has drawn the rails,” Edmonds said.

“Taylor Marshall is back on him for the Caloundra race and we’ve had a lot of luck with him.

“He’s a good young rider who listens.”
