RACE TWO

GOTTA GOOD REASON (1) had been the victim of a string of bad gates where his runs had merit but he was knocking the head against the wall. Last start over the mile he landed gate 2 and pouncing on the poles took full advantage to lead throughout in scoring. With a similar run he can back it up.

SOMEMONDOSOMEWHERE (8) released last start from gate 1 and then via the passing lane was 3.5m from the winner VETTEL. The start prior he hit the line in good style to grab the bronze and following out to get the economical trip here will be coiled and ready to strike in the stretch.

KETUT (4) will need a strong tempo and to find position cheaply if he is to make any impact. His last start 3rd behind the big winner ONE HELL OF A RIDE was good and he will be swooping hard in this.

LIKEALLOFUS (3) didn’t get the cleanest run in transit last start and under the circumstances the run was full of merit when within 5m of the winner SECRET JACK. With even luck early he can be in the mix.

SELECTIONS: GOTTA GOOD REASON (1), SOMEMONDOSOMEWHERE (8), KETUT (4), LIKEALLOFUS (3)
SUGGESTED BET: GOTTA GOOD REASON (1) to win

RACE THREE

In a race that looks to have many chances, it might just be CHANTREY (6) that is able to take control and sneak away with the loot. Finding the front from gate 3 last week over the mile, he led the deep into the stretch and was only nabbed up the passing lane by ARGYLE BEACH. If the cost for the lead is not too expensive, he can hold on.

SECRET JACK (10) shoots for the hat-trick after successive wins at the 2138m trip. Crossed in the early stages from gate 1 last time out, he was right lined at the top of the stretch to finish best and take a half-head victory. Pressing on to take them all the way 2 starts back, he will provide a test.

THE SHADY ONE (8) will be needing a rub of the green in the run here as he looks for the open space to unleash his closing speed. He found the line nicely last time when buried and will swoop hard.

ROCKNROLL EMMA (5) made the most of a cosy run in transit to claim a mid-week event 2 starts back when arriving via the passing lane. Back in the pack last start, she can be an exotic player here.

SELECTIONS: CHANTREY (6), SECRET JACK (10), THE SHADY ONE (8), ROCKNROLL EMMA (5)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FOUR

JUST SEDUCE ME (8)
will be needing her share of luck in transit here, but is worth a chance that she can find the gaps. Last start she was forced to roll the sleeves and do it the tough way when best of the rest behind the big winner ELLE YEAH. Her run 2 back behind TOM ME GUN was good and she just needs the luck.

ELLE YEAH (10) has been in great touch this Winter highlighted by a top-three at 4 of her past 5. Last start she took off at the 800m in the small field and in a two-horse breakaway, went within an eyelash of landing the win. A big 15m winner 2 starts back, she will be throwing down the challenge.

ROYAL STORY (12) claimed a mares qualifier 2 starts back when finishing best wide off the track to score. Looking to take them all the way last start, she was beaten a half-head by SECRET JACK. Back to mares is a plus.

ARCACHON (1) steps it up here but does have the benefit of the ace gate in her favour. An all the way winner from gate 4 last start, her run the week prior was devoid of luck. Include from the gate.

SELECTIONS: JUST SEDUCE ME (8), ELLE YEAH (10), ROYAL STORY (12), ARCACHON (1)
SUGGESTED BET: JUST SEDUCE ME (8) to win

RACE FIVE

He may have the tough gate to negotiate, but with what we saw last week when MAJOR CAM (10) ws successful, he looks mighty hard to stop in this. He should take great benefit from the run when only 2nd up in 18 months and just flexing his strength in a 54 sec closing half from the breeze. Looks too classy.

ARGYLE BEACH (1) made the most of conditions last week when taking the pocket trail and then driving hard up the passing lane arrived for the prize. That was her 1st start back in Qld following a Menangle campaign that returned success and with a similar trip here will be taking the closing shot.

MACH ALERT (7) might have the wide gate but he still has electric moves off the machine and might just be able to muster the speed to lead. He took them all the way last start and is in the mix here.

LEOS BEST (11) found the right conditions here 2 runs back when pouncing on the poles from gate 2 and taking them all the way over the 2138m. Luckless last start in good closing panels, he can chime in.

SELECTIONS: MAJOR CAM (10), ARGYLE BEACH (1), MACH ALERT (7), LEOS BEST (11)
SUGGESTED BET: MAJOR CAM (10) to win

RACE SIX

LETS KATCHMEIFUCAN (4) may be winless since January, however his recent runs have been strong without returning success. 2 starts back he couldn’t get the right cart home and when he finally found clear air was attacking the line to get within a head. Gate 6 was his undoing last start and from gate 4 in this he can be rewarded.

STOMPEM (1) pressed on to find the front over the Redcliffe 2280m trip 2 starts back and once in control was in a different race to his opponents. Ripping home in a sharp last 800m, he was able to post a 27m winning margin. Not suited last start from gate 7, he will need to hustle early in this.

SCHOUTEN ISLAND (8) rolled to the front last start over the 2138m and after a steady opening 800m looked to bring it home when grabbed late up the passing lane. With a cosy trip he can challenge.

BEE GEES BANDIT (6) has been in great touch since returning from a freshen with his latest outing a tough effort for 3rd when 5m from THATSWHATISAID. The gate is a stinger again but he will fight.

SELECTIONS: LETS KATCHMEIFUCAN (4), STOMPEM (1), SCHOUTEN ISLAND (8), BEE GEES BANDIT (6)
SUGGESTED BET: LETS KATCHMEIFUCAN (4) to win

RACE SEVEN

EXPENSIVE EGO (11) is undefeated in 4 starts and despite being forced to start from the extreme gate, he looks to have the talent to arrive. Huge in winning the QBRED Triad Final at just his 3rd career start, he was clinical in the heat of this series from the breeze. He can go 5 for 5 and land the 2nd G1 of his brief career.

TOANUI SPIRIT (2) had been racing in great order without any luck in landing a gate until the conditions of this race played right into her hands in the heat. Landing gate 1 she made full use of her good early speed to take them all the way. Firing the early bullets here, she can give some cheek.

MUMMYS BOY (8) will need a slice of luck to find open track in this, but if he can sight an opening in time, look for him attacking hard. Resuming from a spell when 3rd in the heats, he will be fitter and just needs a rub of the green to feature.

OUR BALOU (6) has shown steady improvement as the season has progressed, claiming a Redcliffe victory via the passing lane 3 starts back. Grabbed late by EXPENSIVE EGO in the heats, he will be in for the fight.

SELECTIONS: EXPENSIVE EGO (11), TOANUI SPIRIT (2), MUMMYS BOY (8), OUR BALOU (6)
SUGGESTED BET: Flexi trifecta 11 / 2-6-8

RACE EIGHT

WRITE ABOUT LEXY (2) took the trail from this gate last week over the mile to use the passing lane and finish 2m in arrears of the winner. Backing up here on Tuesday over 2138m, she was sent to the front and taking control was able to fight them all off. Back to mares only, she can look to dictate.

INVITE ONLY (10) has been returning some real eye-catchers from bad gates and is screaming out to land an alley. On Wed night at Redcliffe she was closing strongly from gate 10 over the sprint trip to grab the silver. Mid-field the start prior when the tempo was against the chasers, she can chime in.

CAESARS ASTRUM (1) was shooting for the hat-trick here 2 starts back when landing this gate, yet soon found herself buried away when 3rd to the talented SPEECH IS SILVER. She can strike late.

MELANNA BEACH (3) was sent forward from gate 5 last week and was wide and working in a sub 27sec opener. In for the fight she only faded in the closing stages. She is in the mix here.

SELECTIONS: WRITE ABOUT LEXY (2), INVITE ONLY (10), CAESARS ASTRUM (1), MELANNA BEACH (3)
SUGGESTED BET: WRITE ABOUT LEXY (2),

RACE NINE

After successive feature race victories at his past 2 starts, BILL HALEY (10) finds an attractive race to tackle. A winner at 4 of his past 5, his latest start saw him produce an unbelievable closing sprint to grab OUR UNCLE SAM and claim the Patrons Purse at Redcliffe. Settling handy he should be too slick.

THE ANNOUNCER (3) has been plagued by a string of tough barriers and can look to capitalise on an improved alley here. Last start he was making good closing ground when nothing else really made an impact from the rear when beaten a head. He struck trouble the start prior and can bob up here.

TENNYSON BROMAC (7) will shoot for the hat-trick after a pair of impressive wins. The latest came via the passing lane when grabbing MATTGREGOR on the line. A winner from this gate 2 back, he is in the fight.

SOMWHEREOVARAINBOW (8) started from gate 10 last start and was finding the line in good style to grab the bronze when 2m from the winner GOTTA GOOD REASON. With a soft trip he will probe for gaps.

SELECTIONS: BILL HALEY (10), THE ANNOUNCER (3), TENNYSON BROMAC (7), SOMWHEREOVARAINBOW (8)
SUGGESTED BET: BILL HALEY (10) to win

RACE TEN

EMPIRE BAY (4) has been charging home and running impressive closing sectionals but falling short. Last start as fav, he couldn’t pick them up, but still attacked the line strongly. He meets OUR OVARANOVA 10m better than the last meeting when beaten a head and this looks within reach.

SOUTHERN ALPS (3) packed his manners in the gear bag last week and stepping cleanly, went straight to the front and once in control held on to score a win with some smart closing panels. 3rd the starts prior from a 20m tape, he steps up here but if safely away, he will be in the mix.

OUR OVERANOVA (8) has the 50m to overcome, but that shouldn’t prove too much of an obstacle. Winning at start 150 last time over this trip, his record over the AP 2647m stand reads 46: 17-12-6.

JUSTABITNOISY (6) worked home in nice style off a 20m tape last start when 8m from the winner SOUTHERN ALPS. He starts from the same tape after giving him 20 last week and won’t be far away.

SELECTIONS: EMPIRE BAY (4), SOUTHERN ALPS (3), OUR OVERANOVA (8), JUSTABITNOISY (6)
SUGGESTED BET: EMPIRE BAY (4) to win
