RACE TWO

GREG THE GREAT (9) has the 30m tape to negotiate yet he has been taking on the stronger square gaiters in recent outings. Quick off the arm from the mobile 2 starts back, he was not too far from the winner IL PIRATA. Backing up from Saturday night, he can power home over the top of them.

IS SOMETHINGBURNING (6) has been runner-up at her past 2 starts, the latest under mobile conditions when taking the trail and finishing 1m from the winner IM THE COMMANDO. Charging home from back in the pack here 2 starts back behind AVEROSS DON, she can ask some questions.

HAVANA MAGIC (4) should appreciate the front tape in this grade after her last start was from the 30m tape. Doing plenty of work in getting forward to the breeze, she could not maintain the rage when fading late. Back to the 2138m is also in her favour for a forward finish.

JEDDY R YA READY (8) has been freshened since his last outing when making an uncharacteristic break when the tapes released. Hitting the line nicely from this tape 2 starts back, he can close hard.

SELECTIONS: GREG THE GREAT (9), IS SOMETHINGBURNING (6), HAVANA MAGIC (4), JEDDY R YA READY (8)
SUGGESTED BET: GREG THE GREAT (9) to win

RACE THREE

SCOTCH EN ICE (2) started from inside the 2nd line at Redcliffe last start and was soon buried in the run and chasing in vain as DON HESTON controlled the race from the front. Chasing for the bronze, it was a tidy effort and with his past 2 starts from 2nd line barriers, he will get his chance here.

PRESS STATEMENT (3) is a Bettors Delight gelding on debut for Shannon Price out of the former handy mare Ell M Aye. That makes him a full brother to some very nice performers including the current smart 3YO ANOTHER STATEMENT. Trialling nicely in readiness, he can strike 1st up.

TORQUE IN CONTROL (1) took on the Fillies Triad Consolation last start from gate 5 and did not receive the cleanest run when 4th to AUNTY BELLA. Placed in 6 of her 13 starts, the inside gate helps.

LETS TORQUE A DEAL (5) was best of the chasers last start at Redcliffe when claiming 2nd behind the smart winner CAPTAIN CRUSADER. Placed 2 starts back from gate 6, she can be thereabouts again.

SELECTIONS: SCOTCH EN ICE (2), PRESS STATEMENT (3), TORQUE IN CONTROL (1), LETS TORQUE A DEAL (5)
SUGGESTED BET: SCOTCH EN ICE (2) to win

RACE FOUR

This race throws up plenty of questions yet perhaps nowhere near as many answers. With most of these searching for form combined with the 2138m trip, a case could be made for most of the field. Leaning to JUST ONE GOOD ONE (3), a beaten fav last start at Redcliffe when too far back over the 1780m after retreating from gate 5. Only a half-head away the start prior, he is worth a chance.

SCHNAPPSHOT (2) might just appreciate the big oval here at headquarters after her 3 starts since arriving on the Winter Holiday have all ben at Redcliffe. Add to that the fact she has landed gates 5, 7 and 9 in those 3 starts and the improved gate will also be in her favour. This looks a winnable race.

MAKINMEFEELGOOD (1) has started twice over this trip, his best return in those 2 outings a 7m 4th to ITS SUPER EASY here 3 starts back. Gunned down last start over the mile, he looks the leerie and will be hoping to have some oil left to light the last lamp.

THE RAGNBONE MAN (5) backs up from Friday where he was starting from this gate over the mile and was a tidy 2nd. Striking just once in 9 attempts at the middle distance, limiting the workload will be in his favour.

SELECTIONS: JUST ONE GOOD ONE (3), SCHNAPPSHOT (2), MAKINMEFEELGOOD (1), THE RAGNBONE MAN (5)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FIVE

ITS SUPER EASY (3) has been in great touch since joining the Donny Smith barn and lines up here on a streak of 5 successive top-3 finishes. Easing into the 1x1 trail last start he held on for the bronze behind CHANCELESS CENTURY. That followed successive wins and from this alley, he can capitalise.

JIVE (6) has started her Aus career in perfect order and lines up here looking to make it 3 from 3. Finishing over the top of them at the 2138m trip 1st up, she then went to the mile 2nd up when finding the pocket trail from gate 3 to then make the closing shot a winner. The gate stings but with the threepeat is within reach

PHIL BROMAC (2) backs up from Friday where he used the passing lane to grab the win. That had followed a narrow 2nd when only beaten a head after setting the tempo. From the good gate he can be in the mix.

BLUE SHARD (8) ended a placing streak last start that had extended 9 successive starts. Settling in the 1x1 he was chasing late when 6m in arrears of JIVE. With a soft trip he will be probing for gaps.

SELECTIONS: ITS SUPER EASY (3), JIVE (6), PHIL BROMAC (2), BLUE SHARD (8)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 2-3-6-8

RACE SIX

SAM IS PERFECTION (5) lands a sticky gate here, but his form prior to last start had been against stronger opponents. A red figure fav last time out from gate 5 at Redcliffe, he was too far back chasing against the tempo. Running into CULTURE KING in successive starts at his previous 2, he can look for the bounce back here.

MUCH BETTOR (10) started from this gate last week over the 2138m when wide off the track trying to improve to issue a challenge. Finishing mid-field, it followed a 3rd over the 2280m at Redcliffe when starting from gate 6. With the right trip he can look to present the closing argument.

MYMATEPOG (7) does not have any favours at all from the car-park but he has been in stronger races of late and backs up from Sat night where he was forced to work hard in the run. A tough 2nd here 2 starts back, he is not without a chance.

ARTHUR LOWE (8) was locked away searching for some gaps last start and really did not get a decent shot at them over the 2138m. He looks set for a cosy trip here and can be gap hunting to chime in.

SELECTIONS: SAM IS PERFECTION (5), MUCH BETTOR (10), MYMATEPOG (7), ARTHUR LOWE (8)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE SEVEN

The number may not be enticing, but that probably does not tell the real tale of the recent efforts of CASINO TOMMY (5). Snagged back from gate 7 last week, his closing splits were sound from a long way back. Not too far away in a tough run here 3 starts back, finding cheap position can see him cash in his chips.

BEE GEES BANDIT (4) was game in putting up a fight from the breeze here 2 starts back to get within a neck of the winner over the mile. Using the passing lane when 5m shy of the winner SPARKLING CULLECT over the 2138m 2 starts back, his effort on Friday was strong when hitting the line in nice order and he looms large here.

CLARRY (8) started from gate 5 over the mile 2 starts back and securing a handy spot in transit was able to finish over the top to score. Too far back from gate 12 last start, he will be probing for openings.

GAME SET MAJOR (7) was having his 1st run back in Qld for his Winter vacation last time out when striking a strong mile race claimed by the airborne AT WEST POINT. He has not fared much better here from this alley, but he is a smart customer that can find the podium.

SELECTIONS: CASINO TOMMY (5), BEE GEES BANDIT (4), CLARRY (8), GAME SET MAJOR (7)
SUGGESTED BET: CASINO TOMMY (5) to win

RACE EIGHT

HAVING THE FAITH (3) started from inside the 2nd line here 2 starts back and was closing in good order in a slick last panel as VIRGIL claimed a passing lane win. Grabbing 3rd in that contest, his effort here on Friday was full of merit and with an improved gate gets his chance to capitalise.

LEFT A HURRIKANE (1) is better suited at the sprint trip and with early speed has the perfect gate to look to dictate. Buried in the run from inside the 2nd line here 2 starts back, it had followed an all the way win from gate 2 over the mile. Finding the tough run over the 2138m too much on Friday, back to the mile from this alley is ideal.

HURRICANE ROY (8) will be 3rd up in Qld and will find this race a shade or 2 below what he has met thus far. Claiming the silver behind B MAC C 1st up, he was wide off the track and closed nicely when not far from the winner COMMODORE JUJON last time and is a passing lane threat.

DOUBLE OR NOTHING (5) met a strong contest 2 starts back when down the line behind BLACKSADANCE. Grabbing the silver behind the in-form HIPSTAR at Redcliffe last time, he has place hopes in this.

SELECTIONS: HAVING THE FAITH (3), LEFT A HURRIKANE (1), HURRICANE ROY (8), DOUBLE OR NOTHING (5)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-3-5-8
