RACE TWO

ONE OFF (10) eased from gate 5 last start and with a pedestrian opening half, those near the front held a strong advantage. Running home in some sharp closing panels, the run was full of merit. Chasing home behind SHANWAY the start prior, there looks some good up-front tempo and he can look to make the closing shot a winning one.

BETTERTHANAJEEP (5) has been in the money at his past 6 in succession, the latest when grinding away outside the leader and winner KEY LARGO. Within 3.5m of THE DEMOCRAT the start prior, he might need to roll the sleeves again from this gate, but can look to throw down the challenge.

PINUP BOY (2) was locked away on the pegs last start and worked home in good order as AT WEST POINT claimed the prize. Runner-up the start prior when beaten a head, he can fire the 1st shot here.

CONVAIR HUSTLER (4) took them all the way at Redcliffe 3 starts back and then hasn’t been suited at his past 2. Taking the lead off PINUP BOY over this trip and then leading throughout back in May, a similar scenario looks on the cards here.

SELECTIONS: ONE OFF (10), BETTERTHANAJEEP (5), PINUP BOY (2), CONVAIR HUSTLER (4)
SUGGESTED BET: ONE OFF (10) to win

RACE THREE

Despite stepping up in grade again here, the past 2 efforts of KEY LARGO (2) combined with his early speed mean that he might just have found the perfect race to complete a threepeat of victories. Claiming a new career PB in front 2 starts ago, he backed it up last week with a qualifying win. He will be gripping on.

DEECAESAR (7) lands a tough gate here but he has been racing well enough in the Qld campaign to overcome the impediment. Placed in 3 successive runs, including a strong 3rd 2 runs back when making a charge down the back straight, finding position cheaply will be key to his challenge.

THE DEMOCRAT (5) has been in nice touch since arriving in Qld, with 2 wins and a close 2nd to the in-form ESCALERA. Claiming a qualifier 2 starts back when leading throughout, he is right in this.

OUR LITTLE DIGGER (10) is hitting the line strongly in his races but just not seeing any luck along the way. His closing splits have been strong and with a rub of the green in transit is a podium chance.

SELECTIONS: KEY LARGO (2), DEECAESAR (7), THE DEMOCRAT (5), OUR LITTLE DIGGER (10)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FOUR

THE BUS (2)
will take benefit from his return from a break when eased from gate 4 to look for an economical 1st up run. Hitting the line strongly in some smart panels it was a good return behind the subsequent stylish winner SECRETAGENT TYCOON. Settling handy, he can be close enough to strike.

MAJOR GENERALJUJON (7) has been in great form and was again charging home last start when 2m from the winner SAINT KILDA BEACH, finishing 4th in ending a top-3 streak that had was running for 8 consecutive starts. He attacked the line hard to score 2 starts back over the mile. With a good tempo looking on offer, he can be charging home.

CHANTREY (6) took on this trip in a mid-week contest last start when sent forward from this same gate. Putting the power on all the way, they couldn’t gun him down in a sharp rate for the trip. He can look to put the blowtorch on again.

SIR JULIAN (5) is a consistent performer that is never far from the action. Closing nicely last start when buried away as MISTER BRAZIL took control, it followed a head 2nd in a slick mile behind ALWAYS IN COMMAND. He can chime in.

SELECTIONS: THE BUS (2), MAJOR GENERALJUJON (7), CHANTREY (6), SIR JULIAN (5)
SUGGESTED BET: MAJOR GENERALJUJON (7) each-way

RACE FIVE

A tricky open event here where early position looks vital. With that in mind LILAC FLASH (1) who has taken a while to wind up after over 12 months off the scene, looks set to get every chance from the gate. Snagged back from gate 7 last start, he closed strongly behind SUBTLE DELIGHT when 6m in arrears. The gate looks ideal for his chances against this line-up.

GLENFERRIE HOOD (5) might not have the greatest numbers next to his name but he is better suited when rolling near the front and he has not been able to race in the pattern in recent starts and has still not been too far from them. Pressing forward here can see him bounce back with venom.

SUBTLE DELIGHT (3) made the most of his opportunity here last week when securing the pocket trail and sprinting hard when the gap opened to claim his 1st victory in the open class ranks. He could have been closer behind KID MONTANA the start prior with a smoother passage and is in the mix.

BRIGHT ENERGY (7) was 2nd up from a spell last time out when hitting the line strongly in some smart closing panels behind the dictating MISTER BRAZIL, beaten a neck. Fitter again, he has podium claims.

SELECTIONS: LILAC FLASH (1), GLENFERRIE HOOD (5), SUBTLE DELIGHT (3), BRIGHT ENERGY (7)
SUGGESTED BET: LILAC FLASH (1) to win

RACE SIX

SAINT KILDA BEACH (6) sat back on the pegs last start and following the shortest way home had too much late zip to arrive for victory over this trip. Locked away the start prior from inside the 2nd line, she comes up with a tricky gate here, but with 4 wins in her past 8 starts, this seems within reach.

SMART AS CAMM BE (5) is the big query, lining up at the races for the first time since claiming the Redcliffe Oaks at her last outing. Running some sizzling closing panels to claim that, she lines up here as a late season 4YO, having prepared with several trials. A winner at 12 of 15, class will take her a long way.

ALE ALE KAI (1) is going better than her numbers suggest, having run some nice races at her past 3 that have not repaid any return for the effort. With the cosy trip available here, she is a place hope.

JUST DEAL IT (3) released the front from gate 1 last time out over this trip and with the economical trip was best of the chasers behind DOUBLEDELIGHTBRIGADE. Firing an earl shot, she has claims.

SELECTIONS: SAINT KILDA BEACH (6), SMART AS CAMM BE (5), ALE ALE KAI (1), JUST DEAL IT (3)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-3-5-6

RACE SEVEN

The barrier draw looks to have opened this contest up somewhat with the 2 impressive heat winners both landing on the 2nd line. Despite the tricky gate, JASPER (8) might just have the class edge to overcome the impediment. Continuing to impress at each outing, she backed up her Triad victory with a comfortable all the way win last week. Look for her getting away from the pegs early to get into the contest.

OUR ULTIMATE BONNY (3) worked to the front prior to opting for the trail in her heat and siting on the back of CHAMONIX set out to run him down in the stretch, getting within a half-neck. Not aided by gate 10 in the Fillies Triad Final when down the line behind JASPER, she can fire an early shot here and will be in for the fight.

LILLIES (1) has drifted under the radar somewhat all season yet lines up here with a win and 6 placings in her 10 career starts. Chasing home for the silver behind JASPER in the heats of this, she lands the perfect gate to limit the work and be looking to chime into the money in the stretch.

CHAMONIX (11) has no favours from the extreme gate but he has started to put it together with 3 wins in his past 5 starts. Taking control helped his chances in the heat, he will have to work at some stage here. While HES SWEET (9) who is yet to win in Qld, can get the right early trail and if he can get a slice of luck that hasn’t been with him in recent starts, can be thereabouts.

SELECTIONS: JASPER (8), OUR ULTIMATE BONNY (3), LILLIES (1), CHAMONIX (11)
SUGGESTED BET: JASPER (8) to win, TAB Jackpot race 3-8 / 1-3-8 / 1-2-3-9-11 / 1-2-3-9-11

RACE EIGHT

IDEAL TIGER (1) settled in the running line from the 2nd line last start and was chasing as ROCKNROLL DUDE controlled the race from the front. The start prior he hit the line in nice order from gate 5 when not too far from the winner JEROSH. With the improved gate, he looks to get his chance in this line-up.

ONLY IN ROME (8) will be relying on some factors to fall in his favour and have track to work with when the gaps open. Grinding away outside the leader after rolling forward from gate 6 over the Redcliffe 2040m last time out, he was fighting hard in a blanket finish. He will be probing.

RED TERROR (2) eased to the pegs here on Tuesday from gate 4 and taking inside runs over the 2138m was 8m in arrears of the winner. Firing an early shot here, he is a podium chance.

TOO GOOD FOR YOU (4) backs up from Wed night at Redcliffe where he was sent forward early and did some work in transit. Finding position and limiting the work, he can place in an open contest.

SELECTIONS: IDEAL TIGER (1), ONLY IN ROME (8), RED TERROR (2), TOO GOOD FOR YOU (4)
SUGGESTED BET: IDEAL TIGER (1) to win

RACE NINE

DOUBLEDELIGHTBRIGADE (3) will be out to remain unbeaten at headquarters after claiming successive wins since arriving in the Dixon barn. Too tough for them in a mares qualifier last start when breezing to a 1.52.7 mile, she can fire the early shots and the threepeat looks attainable.

MYMATEPOG (9) was stamped urgent off the gate last start from gate 7 and continued to press forward to take control over the mile. With the lead coming at the expense of a sub 27 opening panel, he was game in fighting them off to score. With a slice of luck in transit, he can challenge.

ROLL ONE OVER (6) was looking for a hat-trick of victories when taking on the Band 5 Final last start. Working in the run, he fought hard when mid-field to CULTURE KING. He can place despite the gate.

ELMS CREEK (1) eased from gate 5 last start over the 2138m and was sound to the line when 8m in arrears. A winner at his previous 2 in succession at Redcliffe, he can feature here with the ideal trip.

SELECTIONS: DOUBLEDELIGHTBRIGADE (3), MYMATEPOG (9), ROLL ONE OVER (6), ELMS CREEK (1)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE TEN

OUR OVERANOVA (6) circled them early to work to the breeze from the 2nd line over the mobile 2138m here 2 starts back and was in for the fight when only a half-neck in arrears of the winner. Chiming in late off the 45m tape last start, his mobile record is superb, and he can arrive here.

GARLAND GREENE (8) worked hard in the run here last start from the 30m tape when 3-wide. Chasing gamely behind the dictating HAVANA MAGIC, it followed the disappointment of ending his hopes with an error at release in the Qld Cup. With a sharp mid-week trial, he can challenge

LAVROS TEXAS (3) stepped cleanly last start from the tapes over the 2647m trip and from the front had too much in reserve in claiming victory. Enjoying the mobile, he will be in the mix here.

IL PIRATA (2) arrived off the speed to claim the 2138m mobile Qld Trotters Cup here 2 starts back. Backing that up with a late closing 3rd last time, he can settle close enough to chime in late.

SELECTIONS: OUR OVERANOVA (6), GARLAND GREENE (8), LAVROS TEXAS (3), IL PIRATA (2)
SUGGESTED BET: OUR OVERANOVA (6) to win

RACE ELEVEN

It’s a long time to wait to see the star of the meeting but waiting until the 11th to see this super filly AMAZING DREAM (7) will be worth the wait. A winner at 8 of her 9 starts, she beat the boys last time out in claiming the Northern Derby at Auckland. Blowing out any cobwebs in an easy trial where she never looked to extend here on Tuesday, despite giving away age, she will be too classy.

MACH TORQUE (5) is in great touch and if she ever has some factors go her way, will win a mares qualifier for fun. Finding the pocket trail last start, she was game in defeat, finishing 2nd behind the flying DOUBLEDELIGHTBRIGADE. Striking trouble 2 starts back, she looks best of the rest in this.

MOREAU DRIVE (6) set the tempo last time out from gate 3 and after a 57.5 opening half couldn’t repel the challenge when fading into 3rd. Working home strongly the start prior, she is a podium hope.

CORSINI (9) appreciated the return to mares company last start when not too far away behind DOUBLEDELIGHTBRIGADE. Tucking in behind, she can be ready to chime in here.

SELECTIONS: AMAZING DREAM (7), MACH TORQUE (5), MOREAU DRIVE (6), CORSINI (9)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 7 / 5-6-9
