Gun freelancer Amanda Turnbull has snared the drive on star Kiwi pacer One Change in his quest to create history at Albion Park on Saturday night.

The former All Stars’ 2YO of the Year is trying to become the first three-year-old to upstage the older horses and win the $175,000 Group 1 Blacks A Fake (2680m).

One Change’s chances have been boosted by drawing the pole and he’s $5.50 second favourite behind the heavily-backed Miracle Mile and Hunter Cup winner King Of Swing (gate five, $1.90 into $1.50).

Turnbull was set to drive at Menangle on Saturday night before getting a call from One Change’s trainer Vicki Rasmussen.

“I’ve got a horse called Mach Le More with Vicki and I’d talked about going up to drive him at some stage because he’s owned by my best friend” Turnbull said.

“Vicki said I should come this week and she’d give me the drive on One Change as well.

“I was going to drive at Menangle and I’ve got a few of my own horses in there, but when you get the chance to drive in a big race like this, especially on a horse with a real chance, you jump at it.

“King Of Swing is going to take some beating, but we should get our chance from the draw.”

Turnbull will trying to claim her second major scalp in the space of a month.

On Breeders Crown finals night at Melton, Turnbull drove the emerging Hurricane Harley to lead throughout and upset Australia’s best pacer, Lochinvar Art.

One Change was sent across to Rasmussen’s stable in the middle of the year because of the extra opportunities under the different handicapping system in Queensland.

It’s been a great move with the colt racing eight times at Albion Park for five wins, two seconds and a third.

Shane Graham has driven him in five Albion Park wins, but he opted to stick with another former All Stars pacer Turn It Up, despite drawing outside the front row (gate seven). He’s a $19 shot.
