Oaks Campaign Under Consideration

Speedy filly Lisa Lincoln is being considered for the New South Wales Oaks.

The Gr.1 $200,000 Fillies feature starts next week with heats being staged at TABCORP Park, Menangle while the final will take place the following week – the same night as the Miracle Mile.

But the Melissa Gillies trained filly needs to pass an important test tomorrow (Friday).

Lisa Lincoln starts in the Changeover @ Burwood Stud Pace over 1660m at Albion Park and will start from gate four while taking on handy types Only One Promise, Lucky Unlucky and Ark Teamo among others.

Kelli Dawson replaces her brother Trent as the race day driver.

“It’s on the table but nothing is confirmed at this stage, we’ll make a firm decision following her race this week. We think she’s a talented type but we won’t rush into any decision.” Gillies stated.

The American Ideal filly has shaped well since crossing the Tasman with placings in three of her four starts to date.

A sharp local debut came on December 22 at Albion Park with victory in a time of 1:54.9 while being a runner-up at her next two efforts against subsequent Victoria Derby hero Colt Thirty One and richly talented filly Fame Assured.

At her most recent start on January 23, Lisa Lincoln missed the place for the first time in her career when finishing 6th behind Fame Assured in the $10,540 Seymour Pot of Gold Final after working hard throughout.

Connections were hopeful of gaining a start in the recent Gr.3 $30,600 Raith Memorial at Menangle but were listed as the emergency and did not gain a start; the event was won by New Zealand filly Our Bare Knuckle.

Gillies prepared last Saturday night’s winner Beaver, an impressive winner of the opening event in fast time of 1:53.5.

The Art Major gelding starts again this Saturday night when he lines up in the Remembering Jeremy Lee Open Pace but must overcome gate 10 in the 2138m event.

Her small but select team is prepared in partnership with her husband Keith.
