Speedy Mare For North America

A passport is required for speedy performer Firebby.

Connections of the 14 win mare have accepted an offer to sell and her future now rests in North America.

A deal was struck last week and purchased by Tahn Camilleri on behalf of clients from the leading New Jersey stable of Ross Croghan.

Prepared throughout her career by Cristina Monte and Charlie Cini, the Courage Under Fire mare has proven herself as one of the better short course performers in the Sunshine State.

“The deal came to hand pretty quickly and I’m sure she’ll do a great job for her new connections, her brilliant gate speed is her best asset while she loves the sprint racing. I think she will only have to race against her own sex up there which is another advantage.” Cini said.

Firebby raced for new connections on Saturday night at Albion Park when run down after leading in the shadows of the post by Guys Bettor Bet in a time of 1:56.3.

Placed at 7 of her last 8 starts, Firebby recorded a personal best effort of 1:52.6 when successful at Albion Park on December 8.

Back in January last year, Firebby was a runner-up behind Change Of Mind at TABCORP Park, Menangle in a time of 1:51.3.

Firebby was placed in both the Gr.2 $50,000 QBRED Triad Fillies Finals at Albion Park as a two-year-old and as a three-year-old.

“We’ve had a lot of fun with her right from the very start of her career; she possessed natural ability and performed at a high level each and every time she started.

“In an age group with plenty of depth, she more than held her own and filled some placings in some really nice races.

“Her record is something we’re really proud of and I’m sure she’ll continue to do a good job wherever she ends up.”

Firebby won 14 of her 54 starts while being placed on another 19 occasions and amassed more than $90,000 in stakes.

It’s expected she will have at least another start or two in Brisbane before heading overseas.
