Racing Queensland confirms that following the recent flooding in North Queensland which caused damage to the Townsville TC racing venue at Cluden Park, it has been necessary to make alternative arrangements for the club’s race meetings scheduled for the reminder of February and March.
The first of these changes is relative to the race meeting programed for Thursday 21 February.
This race meeting will no longer be held and accordingly, the following changes have been made to programs at race meetings in the Leichhardt and Far North regions:
Mackay TC – Saturday 23 February – two additional races added to the program:
This race meeting its entirety will now be run with ‘showcase’ status and accordingly the prizemoney for all races on the program will be $19,000. The race meeting will now comprise an eight race program.
Cairns JC – Tuesday 26 February – an additional race added to the program
The race meeting will now comprise an eight race program.
RQ confirms that the following travel subsidies will be paid in respect of each of the aforementioned race meetings:
Mackay TC (23 Feb)
Cairns JC (26 Feb)
RQ is also currently working through the process of finding alternative venues for the Townville TC meetings scheduled for March but confirms that all four will be run. They comprise:
Once finality is attained in regards the replacement venues the appropriate information will be disseminated by RQ to industry. It is envisaged that this will take place within seven days of this dispatch.
