Racing Queensland has been recognised not once but twice by Harness Racing Australia for its outstanding media coverage during the 2019/20 season.

Earlier today, HRA announced the 2020 Joseph Coulter Media Award Winners, which acknowledges the nation’s coverage of the standardbred code.

The awards are named after legendary journalist Joseph Coulter, who wrote under the pen name ‘Tuxedo’ for over 50 years.

RQ’s Andrew Adermann was awarded the ‘Best Historical Feature’ and will be presented with a Graham Goffin Memorial Award for his loving tribute to Chip Del.

In early October, Chip Del, who enjoyed almost 100 starts in the Sunshine State throughout the 1980s, passed away at the age of 38, but not before giving the Campbell family the ride of their lives.

At the same time, RQ’s long-term photographer, Dan Costello, was awarded the ‘Best Published Action or Still Photograph’ after shooting the inaugural standalone Kilcoy grass meeting in December 2019.

A staple on Queensland’s harness racing tracks over the years, Costello captured the moment perfectly as the field moved into single file ahead of the bell.

“It’s great to see Andrew and Dan’s achievements recognised in this manner,” RQ General Manager Marketing and Corporate Affairs Richard Goodbody said.

“Queensland is fortunate to have so many wonderful harness racing stories, and in these instances, they were captured perfectly.”

RQ congratulates both Andrew and Dan – along with all of the other award winners – on their success.
