A FAVOURABLE draw has boosted Leigh Sutton’s confidence in his bid to maintain a perfect association with Chevrons Reward this weekend.
Sutton has partnered Chevrons Reward three times, with the filly emerging triumphant on each occasion.
This time around the pair will step up in grade as they tackle Saturday night’s Queensland Oaks at Albion Park.
To Sutton’s delight, the Lauren and Shane Tritton-trained daughter of Rocknroll Hanover will begin from barrier three.
“Drawing well helps our chances,” Sutton said. “She’s a nice filly, which is capable of winning from worse draws, but three is a nice place to start from.
“From there she should settle in the first four or five and be dangerous in the home straight.
“I drove her in a trial last week and she went really well. Her work since has been good and she’ll be in top shape for this.
“It will be great if I can keep that perfect record with her going a little longer.”
Adding to Sutton’s joy is the tough draw received by the early favourite, Goodtime Heaven.
A last start winner of the Group One Breeders’ Challenge at Menangle, Goodtime Heaven will begin from the outside of the second row.
The Courtney Slater-trained three-year-old has won eight of her nine starts this term.
“It’s a tough draw for Goodtime Heaven, but she’s a top filly with the record on the board,” Sutton said.
“Callmequeenbee is another nice filly which should go well from barrier two, while My Harmony Blue, which has the pole, has solid form on paper.”
