Journeyman Justin Stanley joined Jeff Lloyd and Jim Byrne as the third Queensland jockey to bring up 100 winners this season when he saluted aboard Under The Weather at Mackay on Saturday.

It capped off what was a memorable week for the 37-year-old, following his win in the $100,000 Racing Queensland Battle of the Bush final on Mason’s Chance at Doomben the Saturday prior.

Brisbane-based Stanley is a regular visitor at North Queensland meetings, often making the return journey in the space of a day to ride at tracks such as Mackay, Rockhampton, Townsville and Cairns.

The former champion apprentice rode three winners on the day including UBET Northern Crowns contender Chivadahlii in the Open Handicap, and The Barmaid in the Maiden Handicap.

Meanwhile, Gold Coast trainer Toby Edmonds notched 100 season winners for the first time, when Winter Bride easily accounted for her rivals in the QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap at the Sunshine Coast.

Edmonds has trained 84.5 winners in Queensland, with further winners in New South Wales and Victoria, including feature wins with Eptimum and Houtzen.

Both achievements are set to be recognised at the annual Racing Queensland Thoroughbred Awards on Saturday, September 16, in Brisbane.
