Zoffany Rocket claimed the final heat of the 2019 Magic Millions Up & Coming Stayers Series but it was seven-year-old gelding Barwon who was awared back-to-back titles at Cairns on Tuesday.
Barwon won the 2018 series in dramatic circumstances when he claimed the last leg at Cannon Park under Kirk Stone.
Barwon came into yesterday's final leg with six points under his belt, following an earlier win at Cairns and minor placings at Atherton and Gordonvale.
He would finish out of the placings yesterday but with the winner taking his grand total to three points and runner-up The Fox Effect moving to five points, Barwon had done enough to secure the lucrative bonus for his owners.
Barwon's owners claim a $4000 bonus and an all-expenses paid trip to a Magic Millions sale with airfares, accommodation and ringside dining.
Despite his horse winning the series for a second time, trainer Rodney Miller couldn't match the might of the John Manzelmann stable, which claimed the $2000 trainer's bonus and an all-expenses paid trip to the Millions.
The jockeys' bonus went the way of Wanderson D'Avila.
The well-travelled hoop finished tied on 9 points with Shane Pawsey but was deemed the winner on count-back.
Wanderson receives a new whip courtesy of the Cairns Jockey Club and a Magic Millions trip.
