RQ statement on revised COVID-19 protocols

Racing Queensland has advised that patrons will be permitted to return to all venues outside of the LGAs of Brisbane and Moreton Bay from 6pm tonight.

Patron-free racing will continue to be staged in Brisbane and Moreton Bay until further notice, including tomorrow’s Wondais Mate feature meeting at Albion Park, which remains restricted to essential racing personnel working at the race meeting.

From 6pm tonight, the new RQ protocols include:

Race meetings

Race meetings in the LGAs under lockdown will proceed as scheduled but will be conducted as patron-free events and are restricted to Essential Racing Personnel working at the race meeting only.

  • Essential Racing Personnel are entitled to attend race meetings for the purposes of work but must comply with all Queensland Health directions.
  • Patrons are not permitted to attend race meetings conducted in the LGAs under lockdown.

Patrons are permitted to attend race meetings conducted outside of the LGAs under lockdown.

Face masks

At race meetings in LGAs still under lockdown:

  • Essential Racing Personnel: are required to wear a face mask at all times including indoors, stabling/kennelling areas, in mounting yards, behind barriers, starting boxes etc. Jockeys and drivers are not required to wear a face mask whilst racing but must wear a face mask at all other times.
  • Patrons: are not permitted to attend.

At race meetings in LGAs where lockdown now lifted:

  • Essential Racing Personnel: are required to wear a face mask at all times including indoors, stabling/kennelling areas, in mounting yards, behind barriers, starting boxes etc. Jockeys and drivers are not required to wear a face mask whilst racing but must wear a face mask at all other times.
  • Patrons: are required to wear a face mask at all times, except when eating or drinking.

At race meetings in the rest of Queensland (unimpacted areas):

  • Essential Racing Personnel: are required to wear a face mask in the Core Racing Areas including indoors, stabling/kennelling areas, in mounting yards, behind barriers, starting boxes etc. Jockeys and drivers are not required to wear a face mask whilst racing but must wear a face mask at all other times in Core Racing Areas.
  • Patrons: are not required to wear a face mask.
