What is your background in Queensland racing?

I was born into a racing family. I’ve always been in it. I have had a trainers license since I was 18 … so a long time.

Tell us about your operation. How many horses do you have in work and how many staff do you employ?

There’s only me and friend doing them at the moment. We have about eight or nine horses.

What do you love about Racing?

The horses. I’ve known racing all my life so it was always go into racing.

Tell us about the horse you have qualified for the final?

Go Get Sum – Career: 38-5:8:6

I think he’ll be really competitive, and one good thing with him is that he handles all conditions, wet and dry. He runs pretty much the same on all surfaces. He’s had one run at Doomben on the chance he got and then went for a spell and we just haven’t had the chance to go back down there. Things haven’t fallen well for him and that’s the only reason we haven’t been down.

What do you think of the Battle of the Bush concept and what it would mean to win?

It would be fantastic to win it. To get a bit more of the big money. I am going down full of hope. It is such a good thing that they subsidize the cost of getting all the horses down here, they’ll all come because cost is a big thing.
