Richly talented performer Our Uncle Sam landed a blow for the locals on the verge of the 2018 Albion Park winter carnival.

The Chris and Anthony Frisby prepared four-year-old scored a decisive victory in the Listed $25,540 Oakwood Capital Lucky Creed Pace defeating Anychance and Bodhi Tree.

Our Uncle Sam rated 1:57.2 for the 2680m feature.

The Albion Park winter carnival officially starts on July 7 before continuing on July 14 and 21.

Now unbeaten in both Queensland starts this campaign following his unplaced effort in the Gr.1 $200,000 Chariots of Fire at TABCORP Park, Menangle – the classy performer has booked himself a spot in the upcoming features.

His targets will include the Gr.2 $50,540 Garrards Sunshine Sprint on July 14 followed by the Gr.1 $200,540 UBET Blacks A Fake Queensland Championship the following week.

The Blacks A Fake will be staged at 2680m, the same distance as last night’s feature.

“He went great and we’re very happy with the way he’s going, he ran a personal best time when resuming and this victory is another step up again. It’s only going to get harder in the coming weeks but we’re very happy with our position right now.” Winning trainer Chris Frisby said.

Next week, the Listed $25,540 Wondais Mate over the 1660m takes place before the carnival officially gets underway.

On July 7, the Listed $25,540 Mr Feelgood is scheduled and the winner of that event is guaranteed a start in the Blacks A Fake.

Another highlight from last night was the winning return of the richly talented Hughie Green, the giant gelding scored a dominant victory in the Pryde’s Easifeed Pace over 2138m rating 1:57.2.

Prepared by John Cremin, Hughie Green was resuming from a year long layoff following injury which derailed his winter carnival campaign last season.

The timing of his winning return is ideal with the Gr.2 Sunshine Sprint (July 14) and Gr.1 Blacks A Fake (July 21) just around the corner.
