RACE TWO

COBALT BLUES (8) is slowly starting to put it all together as he hones his craft and has improved to the point of being runner-up in 3 of his past 4 starts. Finding the position behind the leader here last start, he went within 5m of victory and despite the 2nd line he can open his account in this line-up.

RUM AND SCHOTZ (1) had to snag back from gate 3 last start to find position and was then just too far back. That followed a pair of 2nd line gates against much stronger opponents. With the benefit of the top gate here, he can get the right trip and throw down the challenge.

NESTERS HILL (2) makes his debut for Peter McKay and is a Mr Feelgood gelding out of the six-win mare Saunders Jewel. He trialled nicely enough to suggest he can make his presence felt.

BEEF CITY FEELING (7) is another Mr Feelgood on debut, a gelding trained by Peter Greig. A half to the handy winners Beef City Safari and BEEF CITY BLAZE, he can find the placings 1st up.

SELECTIONS: COBALT BLUES (8), RUM AND SCHOTZ (1), NESTERS HILL (2), BEEF CITY FEELING (7)
SUGGESTED BET: COBALT BLUES (8) to win

RACE THREE

MAYWYN NO REGRETS (1) gets into this race nicely and will face a sharp drop in class. Hitting the line nicely last start she was only 6m from the winner when chasing home from gate 6 at AP. That followed a 3rd to the handy ALI DOWNUNDER and from the gate she can look to take full advantage.

MAJOR SLIP UP (8) has returned this campaign in great order, winning at 2 of his past 4 appearances. The latest win was over this trip last start from gate 1 when taking them all the way and scoring a 5.5m victory. A strong winner here 4 starts back from the breeze, the gate is the query.

NIFTY STUDLEIGH (9) isn’t afforded any favours from this gate, but should find this easier than recent outings. A passing lane winner 2 back at AP, he is capable enough to take this, just needs luck.
SCHEU CREEK (7) didn’t have the cleanest passage last start after starting from gate 5 over the Redcliffe sprint trip. Grabbed when leading them up 2 back, he can chime into the money here.

SELECTIONS: MAYWYN NO REGRETS (1), MAJOR SLIP UP (8), NIFTY STUDLEIGH (9), SCHEU CREEK (7),
SUGGESTED BET: MAYWYN NO REGRETS (1) to win

RACE FOUR

MAHALO (5)
resumes from a spell without the benefit of a public trial and while her numbers may look ordinary, she had been meeting much stronger opponents than this line-up. Unable to find position at her past 2 starts and finishing down the line, sent forward early she can take control.

DONOMOOR (7) has a handy strike rate here at Marburg with a top 3 in 5 of his 8 appearances, 2 of those being victories. Working home wide off the track here last start he was able to hold on for the bronze which followed a luckless run when striking trouble. With even luck in transit he can feature.

TORQUE TO THE MAX (3) didn’t have the greatest of luck last start at Redcliffe when looking for gaps that didn’t arrive. Placed in 4 of her 7 outings on this track, she can add another to that tally.

HALF MOON BEACH (8) has been freshened since his last appearance when finishing down the line in a strong AP mile. He faces a steep class drop into this contest and can take this with the right trip.

SELECTIONS: MAHALO (5), DONOMOOR (7), TORQUE TO THE MAX (3), HALF MOON BEACH (8)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 3-5-7-8

RACE FIVE

This is the 1st of 3 heats on the card with the top 4 from each to progress to a Final at Albion Park. Well placed to gain a start in this series, GOALKICKER (1) looks set to start a short-price to claim the opening heat. A big winner from the tapes here 4 starts back, hustling hard to protect the pegs, she can dictate.

DOWNTOWN LUCCA (6) closed out in nice order here last start from gate 8 to grab the bronze behind ZED EXPRESS. He found the line nicely from gate 6 at AP 3 starts back and with the cosy run here will be probing to find openings.

IFYOUBELIEVE (3) has a solid record here at Marburg with a top 3 in 4 of his 5 outings with 2 of those being victories. Grabbed late when lighting the lamps at AP on Tues, he can throw down a challenge.

BAMBOLE NERE (7) started in red figures last start at Redcliffe and was working home wide off the track when the best she could manage was 3rd. The 2nd line doesn’t help, but she can chime in late.

SELECTIONS: GOALKICKER (1), DOWNTOWN LUCCA (6), IFYOUBELIEVE (3), BAMBOLE NERE (7)
SUGGESTED BET: GOALKICKER (1) to win

RACE SIX

Heat 2 of the Marburg to Albion series and LOTS MORE GRINS (3) returns from a freshen after finishing well down the track here last start when trying to work home wide out. The start prior he capitalised from gate 1 to take them all the way and hustling to find the pegs can look to dictate.

INCITER (8) missed a top-3 for the 1st time in 15 appearances here at Marburg 3 starts back when fading late after working hard in the breeze. His past 2 outings have been at Redcliffe where he was only beaten a neck behind WEASEL and then on Thurs. He can bounce back at the ‘Burg.

PEGGY STARDUST (1) led them up from gate 4 here 3 starts back and under the pressures of a flat tyre and a tough run faded out. With the gate advantage and options, she has podium claims.

WAVEDANCER (7) found the line in good order from this same gate last start when finish 6m in arears of the winner. Still looking to open his account in 2019, he can chime into the money here.

SELECTIONS: LOTS MORE GRINS (3), INCITER (8), PEGGY STARDUST (1), WAVEDANCER (7)
SUGGESTED BET: LOTS MORE GRINS (3) to win

RACE SEVEN

RAGING INFERNO (9)
made the most of conditions at Redcliffe 2 starts back when lighting the lamps from gate 1 and holding on to score. Setting a solid tempo in front in a Gold Pot heat, he only faded in the closing stages and despite the tough gate he will be a tough nut to crack in this line-up.

ONYA DOUG (5) led them up from gate at Redcliffe 4 starts back and after a steady pace was able to tear home in good style to take a 4m victory. He met a much classier line-up 2 starts back and given a freshen since his last appearance, can look to overcome the wide gate.

ARTS PEREGRINE (7) is never far from the action, supported by placings in 3 of his past 4 outings. Locked away on the pegs last start he grabbed 3rd over the Redcliffe 2040m and has claims here.

NON PASSARE (1) will appreciate the ace gate and with good hustle off the arm, can be in the right position to capitalise. Not suited by gate 7 last start, look for a sharper effort here.

SELECTIONS: RAGING INFERNO (9), ONYA DOUG (5), ARTS PEREGRINE (7), NON PASSARE (1)
SUGGESTED BET: RAGING INFERNO (9) to win

RACE EIGHT

ARES (1)
didn’t receive any favours whatsoever last start when taking on this trip from the 2nd line. Forced wide as he went to make a run, he was then forced to cover plenty of territory and was fighting to the line gamely to grab the silver. With the benefit of the gate he can light the lamps down victory lane.

CROCODILE PRINCESS (8) has been a source of frustration since arriving in Qld, yet her past couple suggest she is ready to turn the corner. Hitting the line stylishly here 2 starts back when wide off the track to get within a head of victory, she was game at Redcliffe on Thursday. This is within reach.

JUST TOMMY (9) went to the pegs from gate 10 at Redcliffe last start and was probing for luck and openings when finishing mid-field. He made a mess of the start 2 starts back and can atone here.

SLIPPERY JADE (2) was crossed in the early stages from gate 1 here last start and then couldn’t find the space in the stretch. Settling handy to the speed she can chime into the exotics.

SELECTIONS: ARES (1), CROCODILE PRINCESS (8), JUST TOMMY (9), SLIPPERY JADE (2)
SUGGESTED BET: ARES (1) to win

RACE NINE

RIVERLEIGH JEFF (8)
made the most of gate 1 here 2 starts back when protecting the pegs, he was then able to take them all the way. Locked away from inside the 2nd line in a 2nd division qualifier last start, he was facing a task with a solid closing 800m set in front. The gate hurts but he can overcome the impediment.

WILL BE DOC (3) arrives from NSW and joins the consistent Mark Rees barn. Last seen in a slick mile at Penrith when working home strongly from the 2nd line, the returns have not matched his efforts of late. Appreciating this class of opponent from his best gate for some time, he can strike here.

DONNY JONES (2) has placed in 3 of 6 outings here at Marburg but is still yet to taste success. Luckless here 2 starts back when looking for gaps, he wasn’t far away last start and is in the mix.

COLOMBIAN GOLD (1) was locked away on the pegs last start when taking on a strong line-up in slick time at Redcliffe. With good speed out of the machine, she will be gripping on.

SELECTIONS: RIVERLEIGH JEFF (8), WILL BE DOC (3), DONNY JONES (2), COLOMBIAN GOLD (1)
SUGGESTED BET: RIVERLEIGH JEFF (8) to win
