Cup Heats - Albion Park Thursday 25 June

The heats of the Group 1 Brisbane Cup (520m) and Group 1 Queensland Cup (710m) will be conducted at Albion Park on Thursday 25 June 2020.

This year will be the first running of the Queensland Cup at Group 1 level over 710m (formally 600m), and the first time that the heats and finals of the Brisbane Cup and Queensland Cup have been conducted on the same program.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, interstate based trainers will not be able to handle their greyhounds in these events unless they have undergone a 14 day self-isolation period prior to the date of the race meeting. However, interstate based greyhounds can be nominated for these events in accordance with the following protocols:

  1. The interstate based greyhound is nominated by a Queensland trainer after trainership of the greyhound has been transferred.
  2. The interstate based greyhound is nominated by an interstate trainer in accordance with GAR 105(6). Under this rule, an interstate greyhound can be handled by a Queensland licensed trainer or attendant, or, an interstate licensed trainer or attendant who has self-isolated for 14 days prior to the race meeting. Prior to nominating the greyhound, the interstate trainer must provide written notification to both RQ and QRIC of when the greyhound will arrive in Queensland, where will it stay, who will handle the greyhound, and when it will return home.

For road travel, all commercial transportation businesses including Dog Movers, Dogtainers, Renzo Park Pet Transport, and Aussie Pet & Animal Transport can be used. For air travel, all Australian commercial airlines can be used.

Nominations for both the Brisbane Cup and Queensland Cup close on Tuesday 23 June 2020 at 9.30am. Nominations can be made online via Ozchase or by phone on 1800 851 155.

The Brisbane Cup carries total prizemoney of $85,000 ($54,000 to the winner), and the Queensland Cup carries total prizemoney of $37,500 ($25,000) to the winner.
