RACE TWO

ALWAYS IN COMMAND (2) may have some poor numbers next to his name, yet the conditions of this race look much more suitable than recent assignments. Having to work over the 2138m last start didn’t suit and the start prior from the 2nd line was against the tempo. Back to the mile, he can be much sharper.

MAYWYNS BEST (3) was a winner her on Tuesday when easing to find position from gate 7 he was able to finish over the top in claiming a narrow victory. Luckless here 3 starts back when probing for gaps that didn’t arrive, finding early position will be key to his chances to make a challenge.

BODHI TREE (10) can be forgiven for his last outing with his run here 2 starts back when only 7m in arrears, the type of run that can see him in the mix against this field. Closing strongly for 2nd in a similar race here 3 starts back, look for him swooping.

HUGHIE GREEN (1) will find these conditions favourable after his 2 runs back from a spell have been in the FFA ranks. Fading after setting the tempo in the Flashing Red, look for a sharper effort here.

Settling in the 1x1 trail, he finished over the top to claim a qualifying victory over the 2138m trip. Fading the start prior after a tough run, his run 3 starts back when 3m from SAM IS PERFECTION was a tidy effort and he can throw down a big challenge with the options from this gate.

From the gate he gets his chance.

Hitting the line strongly at his return after almost 2 years off the scene when 1.5m in arrears, he scorched up the stretch last start in a mid-week FFA to arrive for a comfortable 10m victory. The gate stings, but look for him charging home once again.

GLENFERRIE HOOD (5) set the tempo here last week from gate 4 over the sprint trip and lead for every step bar the most important, nosed out right on the wire by COLT THIRTY ONE. His run from the tapes in the Flashing Red the start prior was huge and lighting the lamps, will have the target they need to gun down.

MAJOR CAM (6) eased from gate 5 last week and was facing a huge task to eat into the deficit as the closing panel in front was laid out in 27 flat. Hitting the line with gusto to be 3m in arrears, he will need to repeat the effort.

DEMETER (1) is in great form since arriving in Qld and will look for a hat-trick of victories after a stylish win last start. A winner in 4 of her 8 outings here at this track, she defeated the mares her past 2. This is a step up, but she is in great touch and with the benefit of the gate can claim silver.

Sent forward from gate 6 last start over the 1780m, she was forced to race tough in the breeze and couldn’t fight off the challenge of the in-form GLENEAGLE WARRIOR. An easy winner in front the start prior, back to mares company looks a big plus.

KOTARE ELITE (1) is getting closer to a qualifying win after placing in her past 4 in succession under similar conditions. Grabbed up the passing lane last start to go under by a neck, the start prior she was 6m in arrears, holding 3rd with both 1st and 2nd having subsequently won. She will be in the fight.
