The preparation of the sand profile is nearing completion on the final stages of the Eagle Farm track remediation project.
The last of the sand continues to arrive on site ahead of being positioned on the track and compacted.
The profile, once compacted, will undergo a rigorous testing phase to ensure compliance with the strict project specification before the laying of turf recommences.
The section of track already turfed has undergone a significant heavy scarification process taking the grass layer from 28 to 18 mm to promote further growth and root structure. The scarification process has assisted in evening the surface out while taking a layer of green thatch off the track. The track will now benefit from topdressing and other maintenance measures.
The recent heavy rain has assisted the turfed section to enhance growth while temporarily halting work on the profile.
Members of the Thoroughbred Advisory Panel inspected the track on Thursday and heard updates from Racing Queensland’s GM of Infrastructure and the Clerk of Works.
