Last week's heats of the Group 3 Auction Series saw some exciting young dogs proceed through to the Semis. We've had a look at the two semi-finals on Saturday night and selected some key dogs to watch.

Brandi Alexander (Magic Sprite x Miss Lauryn)

is 1 of 5 greyhounds from the same litter that will start in the semi-finals of the Ipswich Auction series this Saturday night. The Tom Tsouvelis trained black bitch will start from box 2. She was cut out early in her heat last Saturday from this same box, however managed to work home nicely for a place behind Little Eddie. Her 2 wins from only 6 starts include a win in Heat 7 of this year’s Vince Curry Memorial (30.62), as well as a win at Albion Park on 1st March, where she broke 30 seconds. She can lead this field on her best jump and shouldn’t have trouble qualifying for the final next Saturday.

Miss Amelia (Paw Licking x Wise Forecast)

is the most experienced greyhound remaining in the series, with 28 starts for 8 wins, including a win in Heat 7 of the RQ Young Guns at Ipswich in January. The Reg Hazelgrove trained bitch has drawn box 7 for Saturday’s semi-final and will look to cross them early and get to the rail. She handles the wide boxes extremely well, with 6 of her 8 wins coming from boxes 5, 6, 7 or 8. She posted a 1st sectional of 5.34 (second fastest of the night) and showed she can fly out of the boxes and lead. Femme Folle, drawn on her inside, is her biggest threat.

Femme Folle (Magic Sprite x Miss Lauryn)

qualified fastest for this Saturday’s Semi-Final, with a best of the night 30.40. Flies out of the boxes and will be tough to catch if she jumps well. The Tom Tsouvelis trained bitch has also only had the 6 starts for 2 wins, including a dominant maiden win in her heat of the Vince Curry Memorial in January, when she posted a time of 30.25. She will jump from Box 6 in Saturday’s semi-final and is certainly one of the leading chances for Tom Tsouvelis who has 4 runners looking to qualify for next Saturday’s final.
