QLD Youngster Chasing Bathurst Gold Crown

The Sunshine State will have representation in the upcoming Bathurst Gold Crown series.

Husband and wife combination of Charlie Cini and Cristina Monte have ventured south with a trio of talented performers with the main focus being the juvenile classic.

The Bathurst carnival starts on Friday week (March 23) and concludes on Saturday, March 31.

Rookie pacer Left A Terror is aiming at the Gr.1 $100,000 Gold Crown with heats scheduled for Saturday week (March 24).

The Western Terror gelding finished 5th in the Wayne Wilson Memorial Paleface Adios Classic at his most recent start following three straight placings.

“It would be great if he had a victory against his name before heading south but things haven’t gone exactly to plan. However, his efforts have been more than satisfactory and we’ve been aiming at this series for some time so we’re giving it a go.” Cini said.

Left A Terror has been nominated for events at TABCORP Park, Menangle and Newcastle this weekend.

Joining Left A Terror on the float south is former Queensland Derby winner Catcha Lefty and former New South Wales performer Bundaburra.

A winner of the Remembering ‘Peter Profit’ Open Pace at Albion Park five starts ago, the Village Jasper gelding has been unplaced at his next four starts but is eligible for much easier events in Sydney.

Catcha Lefty is nominated for a $20,400 MO event at TABCORP Park, Menangle this Friday night.

Bundaburra has impressed since coming north and therefore, earned a return trip to Sydney after winning two of his five Albion Park starts to date.

The Famous Forever gelding scored in ‘PB’ time of 1:54.8 over 2138m four starts ago.

Bundaburra has also been nominated for events at TABCORP Park, Menangle and Newcastle this weekend.

“Both older horses are racing well and deserve a shot in better events so we had no issues putting them on the float with the young horse.

“I’m sure with some even luck during our time away, all three horses can perform at a high level and earn some good prizemoney. Hopefully, we can grab the main prize at Bathurst as well.”
