ESCALERA (3) is on the back-up from Tuesday where he was an impressive winner over the 2138m. Allowed time to balance up and push forward he took control and once out in front never looked in danger to score by 4m and zipping home in 27.5. Back to the mile he can claim the hat-trick of wins.
ETERNAL PROMISE (1) did everything right at her debut when sent forward from gate 4 over the Redcliffe 1780m trip and from the front packed too many guns. She steps it up here but with that experience and confidence can make the most of the inside gate to get the perfect trip.
ITZ MAJOR LOOK (6) has been given a break since his last appearance back on Jan 17 where he was stuck looking for position from gate 5 at Redcliffe. Still looking to open his Qld account, he will sharpen from the run.
FEEL LIKE DANCIN (5) made a winning start to her career when making the most of the passing lane to arrive for the prize. The wide gate hurts here but look for her finishing off late once again.
SELECTIONS: ESCALERA (3), ETERNAL PROMISE (1), ITZ MAJOR LOOK (6), FEEL LIKE DANCIN (5)
SUGGESTED BET: Flexi trifecta 3 / 1 / 4-5-6
MAMMALS MAGIC (7) has no favours from this gate but she gets in here on a class drop after meeting stronger opponents in recent starts. Only 7m from COOL SCOOTER last start she was only grabbed in the closing stages 2 starts back and will give this a shake.
IM WITH LEXY (8) was sent forward from the 2nd line here last time out over the mile and fining the breeze then received cover for the last 1000m. Looking to make a challenge the leader had an easy time of it and skipped clear and she was sound to the line. With options as the line 2nd line runner, she can feature.
SMILING ARAMDA (1) wasn’t suited here on Tues when forced to do the hard yards in the breeze after sliding forward from gate 7 and fading late under the strong tempo. With good early speed he can look to take up the lamp lighting duties.
TRAIN WRECK (3) found the line in good order at Redcliffe 2 starts back to get within 3m of the winner. Working home wide out last start he can settle closer to the speed here to find the podium.
SELECTIONS: MAMMALS MAGIC (7), IM WITH LEXY (8), SMILING ARAMDA (1), TRAIN WRECK (3)
SUGGESTED BET: MAMMALS MAGIC (7) to win
TROJAN BANNER (3) steps out in Qld for the 1st time since arriving from NZ for Al Barnes and arrives with a reputation and a handy record. A last-start Cambridge winner over the 2200m trip back on Jan 24, he has trialled in good order to prepare and with the good gate can start with a win in this.
BEEF CITY STARZZZ (2) resumes from a spell after a late-season 2YO and early 3YO season prep saw him finish in the top-two at 5 of his 6 appearances. A last start winner back on September 4 from the pocket trail over he 2138m, he can look to get across to that position here and be thereabouts.
KASH US BACK (6) didn’t really fire here last start when returning from a spell and finished mid-field when 22m from the winner. Fitter for the run and after a week to acclimatise, he can be sharper.
NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (8) will get the early options as the lone 2nd line runner and look to get away from the pegs if required. Tough from the breeze off gate 6 last start she can be chiming in.
SELECTIONS: TROJAN BANNER (3), BEEF CITY STARZZZ (2), KASH US BACK (6), NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (8)
SUGGESTED BET: TROJAN BANNER (3) to win
OUR MEMPHIS MAC (6) features in a stable change and will line-up for Chantal Turpin for the 1st time here. Taken back from gate 5 last start over the mile he caught the eye in making solid ground in a strong closing 800m set from the front. Forget his run 2 starts back, he strikes a winnable race.
FAMOUS SHOES (9) was locked away on the pegs last start after snagging back from gate 6 over the Redcliffe sprint trip and was never in the mix thereafter. His previous start was a tidy effort when mid-field and with the right early trail through the pack can be around the money in this.
ARES (2) resumes from a spell and was last sighted back in November when locked away against the pegs over the 2040m trip at Redcliffe. With the improved gate he can look to find the pegs early and can feature.
GOOD BOY OLIVER (4) showed improvement last start despite fading late. Forced to cut the breeze at his past 2 starts, he should be able to find the pegs here and can look to hang on into the money.
SELECTIONS: OUR MEMPHIS MAC (6), FAMOUS SHOES (9), ARES (2), GOOD BOY OLIVER (4)
SUGGESTED BET: OUR MEMPHIS MAC (6) to win
RED CHARMER (9) started from gate 3 over the 2138m trip last start and after settling back in the pack came with a well-timed run to arrive for a 2m victory. Taking good benefit from that run after a 4 week break between outings, she can get the right early trail and look to finish over the top again.
THE BOYS GNP (11) took on a 2nd division qualifier 2 starts back and was strong to the line when 3m from the winner MACHEASY who controlled it from the front. Last start he was snagged back to find position from gate 6 and hit the line in good style behind JUMPING JOLT and will be charging home.
WHERES THE SPIRIT (1) was a tidy winner here 4 starts back from gate 7 after retreating early and then charging home to claim victory over the 2138m trip. Luckless last start he can get a cosy trip and be probing for the gaps.
BETTOR ATOM (2) gets back to the main draw after being made ODM 5 starts back. A winner from gate 7 at his next run after that indiscretion, he can look to make the most of his early speed here.
SELECTIONS: RED CHARMER (9), THE BOYS GNP (11), WHERES THE SPIRIT (1), BETTOR ATOM (2)
SUGGESTED BET: RED CHARMER (9) to win
BRIAN WHO (10) has followed a pair of wins with a pair of duck-eggs but in each of those has had excuses to explain the result. His win was strong here 3 starts back from gate 7 when working forward and then his next start wasn’t far away after working hard early. He will need some factors in his favour here but can be working home over the top.
TASSINI (12) was locked away on the pegs here 2 starts back over the sprint trip and when shown open road was attacking the line to arrive for a half-neck victory. Forgive here last start when never in the mix after an early gate break, she can be working home late to issue a challenge.
ARK PATROL (6) had the speed to lead last start and from gate 1 was clinging on when grabbed in the closing stages by RED CHARMER. A winner from the breeze here 5 starts back, he won’t be far away.
VINTAGE DREAM (2) took the trail last start from gate 1 and was fighting to the line when beaten a head. Winless in 23 appearances at the track, she can settle handy enough to fill a minor.
SELECTIONS: BRIAN WHO (10), TASSINI (12), ARK PATROL (6), VINTAGE DREAM (2)
DESTINY WARRIOR (1) drops back to claiming company after winning a qualifier at his latest start when finishing best through the middle of the pack after starting from the 2nd line. That followed a tidy effort behind the in-form JUMPING JOLT and with the benefit of the options from gate 1 gets every chance.
COMPLY OR DIE (6) speared out in his customary fashion from gate 5 last start over the mile and spent just a little more than hoped in getting to the pegs in an electrifying 26.4 opener. That left him vulnerable late yet he fought hard for the silver. The 2138m his not his ideal but if able to pinch a panel here will take some catching.
ALWAYS MY MATE (7) found running line cover from gate 10 last start and chased gamely when 3rd to OUR MELS DREAM. He found the line in good order 2 starts back and if able to find position without getting too far back can feature here.
OUR MELS DREAM (8) finished best last start after easing into the running line from gate 6 and found the line best for a stylish 6m victory. A win would take the 12YO marvel to 50 career wins and if sighting space can’t be dismissed.
SELECTIONS: DESTINY WARRIOR (1), COMPLY OR DIE (6), ALWAYS MY MATE (7), OUR MELS DREAM (8)
SUGGESTED BET: DESTINY WARRIOR (1) to win
HARD TO HEAR (1) wasn’t suited last start when forced to retreat from gate 7 and was then always facing a battle to make up the deficit. He was swooping hard from gate 11 over this trip 2 starts back when looking to land a hat-trick of wins and was only beaten a flared nostril. He will need to hustle to protect the pegs but is worth the chance.
GOTTA GOOD REASON (11) was absolutely luckless here 4 starts back when probing for gaps an only 4m from the winner. He then hit the line strongly from gate 5 to get within a half-neck of the winner wide off the track. Put a line through his last 2 starts, with the right trail into this he can arrive.
IM FREE FALLING (3) was attacking the line with venom here 2 starts back after landing gate 11 and went within a half-head of victory. That was franked with an all the way win here last start and he will be in the fight here.
PAY ME INTEREST (2) snagged back from gate 7 last start in a mares qualifier and was finding the line in good order to grab the silver behind JOSSIE JAMES. With good early speed she will settle handy and is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: HARD TO HEAR (1), GOTTA GOOD REASON (11), IM FREE FALLING (3), PAY ME INTEREST (2)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-3-11
