Bowen will host its first TAB meeting on Saturday, with the Townsville Turf Club track undergoing remediation work following last month's flood disaster.

The track is rated Good 4 and the rail is in the true position. There's the chance of a shower but no great cause for concern.

Race 1

The step up in distance should suit Lady Yendor (1) perfectly. She likes to get back and run on hard. She should be able to round them up with ease.

Red Satin (3) is the main danger after a solid performance on debut, scoring at Rockhampton from midfield. However, the runner-up was well beaten next start so the form out of that race is questionable.

Kick Ons (2) showed plenty of fight in his first start when nabbed late by Astral Knight and it was revealed he was shin sore after an underwhelming run behind Red Satin last start. Expect improvement on that and look for a forward showing.

Mt Peter Miss (4) is a last start winner over 870m at Cairns but has to contend with a sharp rise in distance. If she can see out the 1200m trip she could again run into the money.

Selections: 1,3,2,4

Race 2

Where there is smoke there is usually fire, and ex-Mitchell Beer runner Going In Style (1) was well fancied in his last two starts at Albury, beaten less than a length in both. He will have to overcome the widest barrier but class should see him home here.

Vehement (5) continues to find a few better but looks a decent place chance with the ability to hit the line. Should settle within striking distance from the draw.

I like the way Written Image (6) finished off last start when running third behind Cinnabarbow and hasn’t been all that far away of late.

Linnet Moon (3) sat last in a field of 10 at Cairns before making late ground to beat a few home. The extra distance could see her finish a bit closer up this time around.

Selections: 1,5,6,3

Race 3

Confronting (2) is a previous winner over the 1000m trip. On that occasion he came from near last to salute. He should sit a bit closer in small field from barrier 2 and J P Stanley on is a huge plus. He is racing in top order and has been beaten less than a length-and-a-half in four of his last five.

I’m very keen to see what Cyclone Topgirl (4) can do with just 54kg from barrier 1, gaining weight relief of 9kg from last start. The talented filly has won 8 from 11 and a return to her best is not far away.

The stable mate Allround Glory (1) has won 4 of his last 5 and is shooting for a hat-trick. He looks the likely leader and will set this field the hard task of running him down.

More Than A Song (3) has been impressive in winning his last 2 in succession. However, this appears a bit tougher. They ran home in 32.94sec two starts back at Townsville so look for him late.

Selections: 2,4,1,3

Race 4

Serious Crime (8) meets some easier opposition after running into the likes or Marway and The Tax Accountant last prep. I think this is a good each way play based on his run 2 back where he closed off from the rear of the field to run into the placings

Despirito (1) looks the obvious pick in this race having been placed in 8 of 11 including placings at Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba in recent runs. A win is in store for this horse very shortly.

Lanzoffany (5) has been placed in 4 of his last 5, including at Ipswich and the Sunshine Coast. He is another who'll find this a touch easier. However, a number of starts between 1600-1800m suggest he may find the 1200m too sharp.

I think Raunchy Woman (7) can also run into the money at juicy odds, and going on her last run will be very competitive with the rise in distance and has probably just been getting a little bit too far back to threaten in runs as of late.

Selections: 8,1,5,7

Race 5

Our Boy Pendles (4) brained them by almost 3L with 60kg at Innisfail last start. He will be looking to build on his imposing record of 11 starts for 5 wins here and 1200m is his optimum distance, winning 4 of 6 at the trip.

Blazing Steel (2) is drawn to perfection and looks the obvious danger, performing well in tougher company in recent starts. Has form around the likes of Allround Glory and Palladian, and drops back to a Cclass 6 after being far from disgraced in Open company.

Kirabo (1) will look to cross them from out wide and should race handy to the speed. He recorded consective victories recently and wasn’t disgraced in BM69 company behind Jay Jay but will find this just as hard. Certainly a place chance.

Carlino’s Way (3) is the next best choice, having previously won at the track and has been placed in 4 of his last 5. The 1200 might be a bit sharp for him however as he is yet to win under 1450m.

Selections: 4,2,1,3

Race 6

If everything goes to plan Bold Sam (4) should be winning. Came from near last to just miss Damn Fine in Class 3 company at Rockhampton two back and was beaten just 0.8L by The Cheetah last start. Ideally drawn and will not stay a Class 2 for much longer, running into the money 8 times in 21 starts.

Rangerzane (3) won well in Class 3 company over 1500m but has been beaten at very short odds in his next two. He should be handy from barrier 1 and once again be competitive.

Light Up Vegas (8) was huge last start at Townsville to defeat both Bold Sam and Rangerzane over 1400m. A repeat of that would see her go close, however I just think Bold Sam has been a bit more honest and consistent. A winning chance none-the-less.

Roscommon (6) has been placed in his last 2 at Townsville and Innisfail. He will have to overcome a tricky gate but is certainly a placed chance having been placed over 1500m prior.

Selections: 4,3,8,6
