SWEET JASMINE (9) has been in great touch since returning this campaign and despite the tough gate can arrive here. Eased back from gate 7 last time out over the AP mile, she was really closing strongly when within 3m of the winner REDS GOOD TO GO. A smart winner when arriving in the closing stages here 3 starts back, she can swoop late again.
HALF MOON BEACH (2) took on the Trot Rods last start and after looking to get across them, couldn’t quite and then chased home the big winner DATITUDE. Moving in closer to the pegs, he looks set to fire the early shot and if able to get across to light the lamps, can prove tough to crack.
UNDERTHEKILT (1) should appreciate the good gate here and with the option of a soft run in transit can be probing for the gaps in the stretch. Only 6m in arrears of the airborne B MAC C 2 starts back, he is in the fight.
MISTERRIODEJANEIRO (3) did some early work in finding position last start from gate 5 and then fought on gamely to be mid-field behind KYRONTA. Settling close-up, he can feature in this.
SELECTIONS: SWEET JASMINE (9), HALF MOON BEACH (2), UNDERTHEKILT (1), MISTERRIODEJANEIRO (3)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-3-9
LIFES BLACK (8) backs up from Albion Park on Friday where he looked a good hope of making it back to back wins. Claiming the inaugural Trot Rods heat when finding the front and keeping the power on to score, it followed a luckless run after retreating from gate 5. The gate stings, but he is up to the task.
IFOUNDTHEBEACH (4) settled back in the pack last time out over the 2040m and looked to get a cart into the contest over the latter stages. With the perfect trip, he powered clear to score a 5m victory in smart time for the trip. A big winner here 3 starts back, if able to position cheaply, he is a huge threat.
DOLLARBILL (9) is on the back-up from Thursday where he wasn’t far away. Holding on for 3rd in the Armidale Cup 2 starts back, he will be working at some stage and will be right in the fight.
AQUA CRUISER (3) will strip fitter following his latest start when resuming from a break. Finding the 1x1 trail from gate 5, he didn’t get a clean shot in the latter stages and the run had merit. He can be in the action from this gate.
SELECTIONS: LIFES BLACK (8), IFOUNDTHEBEACH (4), DOLLARBILL (9), AQUA CRUISER (3)
SUGGESTED BET: LIFES BLACK (8) to win
JINGLES BROMAC (5) was 2nd up in Aus last start when landing gate 10 here over the sprint trip. Settling well back in the field, he was hitting the line in good order to grab the silver. That followed a 1st up defeat when starting in red figures. With even luck in transit, he looks set to open his Qld account.
DEVOUGED (2) struck trouble last start and was severely hampered in the scrimmage when finishing down the line. Showing some early speed, the start prior, it was a sound effort when not too far from OASIS DREAM. Firing an early shot here, he can be in the right spot to ask the questions.
MONTANA EXPRESS (10) settled back in the pack from this gate last start prior to working home in good style to be 6m from the winner STUDLEIGH WILL. Only 2m in arrears 2 starts back, he can be chiming in late here.
ALL GOOD WALLY (3) didn’t have much go in his favour last start, 1st landing gate 7 and then in transit not much was favourable. Under the circumstances it was a tidy effort and he can be sharper here.
SELECTIONS: JINGLES BROMAC (5), DEVOUGED (2), MONTANA EXPRESS (10), ALL GOOD WALLY (3)
SUGGESTED BET: JINGLES BROMAC (5) to win
WHATA CHALLENGE (8) started fav last time out over the AP 2138m when setting a solid tempo but was unable to see it out, fading in the closing stages. His previous 2 starts came from tough gates after being banished to the outside draw and despite not the greatest record here on the triangle, he looks to have found a winnable contest.
GETINANHANGON (6) will take good benefit from his latest outing when returning from a spell and at his 1st run for the Dwyer yard. Buried in transit from inside the 2nd line and not too far away from the winner REDS GOOD TO GO, with even luck from the tough gate here, he can still challenge.
WRITEABOUTCHELSEA (9) took up the leading duties over the AP mile 2 starts back and once in front cruised home to a big 15m victory in a new career PB rate. Not suited when cutting the breeze last start, she can look for atonement here.
DOOLITTLE DANDY (3) was a passing lane winner here 3 starts back and was then sent for a freshen. Not much went his way when returning and then last start he was sent forward from gate 9 and was too strong late. He is right in the fight again here.
SELECTIONS: WHATA CHALLENGE (8), GETINANHANGON (6), WRITEABOUTCHELSEA (9), DOOLITTLE DANDY (3)
A ROCKNROLL LEGACY (2) has been facing some tough gates of late and on Thurs after landing the ace was crossed early before rolling out to face the breeze over the 2040m. 2 starts back he worked home soundly from gate 8 when not too far behind them and back to the sprint trip from this gate, he can look to capitalise.
PATCHWORK JET (6) has been around the money and continues to race consistently with a top-3 in 9 of his past 11 appearances. Angled back to the inside here on Wednesday night, he was charging home when under 2m from the winner. The gate hurts but look for him swooping home late.
GO ANNE GO (10) makes her 1st appearance in Qld after joining the Kelli Dawson barn. A Canberra winner 2 starts back when taking them all the way over the 1770, she stays under notice here.
HARRY CROFT (3) will take benefit from his outing here on Thursday when 1st up from a break. Making a mess of things at his 1st Qld start back in Jan, he can look to chime into proceedings.
SELECTIONS: A ROCKNROLL LEGACY (2), PATCHWORK JET (6), GO ANNE GO (10), HARRY CROFT (3)
SUGGESTED BET: A ROCKNROLL LEGACY (2) to win
CHROMOZONE (4) dropped into the pocket trail from gate 2 over the 1780m last start but couldn’t go with them in the latter stages. A beaten fav the start prior when leading them up over the AP mile and finishing mid-field, if she can limit the early burn, she can look to pinch the prize
MAGHERA MAGGIE (8) had put together a pair of handy efforts leading into her outing here over the 2040m on Thursday. Sent to the breeze in the early stages, she was able to put the leader away at the 400m and held on to score her 1st Qld victory after 20 attempts. She can go close again.
REDDY FIRE (5) didn’t have much luck last start when buried in behind them after starting from inside the 2nd line. Beaten by gate 10 the start prior, if able to settle closer, he would have rough claims.
PEGGY STARDUST (7) has been runner-up in her past 2 starts, the latest when beaten a head after setting the speed and grabbed on the wire. Needing a slice of luck, she can chime in if the gaps arrive.
SELECTIONS: CHROMOZONE (4), MAGHERA MAGGIE (8), REDDY FIRE (5), PEGGY STARDUST (7)
SUGGESTED BET: CHROMOZONE (4) to win
MAFFIOSO GIRL (9) will be further tightened from her latest start when 2nd up since arriving in Qld. Angled to the pegs for an economical trip from gate 8, she was finding the line strongly when 3rd to EULO FLYER, beaten under 2m. Closing strongly when 1st up to be 4m away, against mares only, she can arrive.
BIG IN AMERICA (3) will take good benefit from her outing on Thursday when returning from a spell. Not entirely suited off the 2nd line, the run had merit and with the gate improvement here will get her chance to use her gate speed. Approaching 12 months since her last success, she can challenge.
OUR ULTIMATE VICKI (8) looked to be getting the perfect tri last start in the pocket trail prior to puncturing and finishing down the line. A passing lane winner when 4 starts back, she should appreciate this level of opponent.
KAY NORA SHANNON (7) will need a slice of luck in transit form this gate, yet if she can sight space and still have track to work with, a podium spot is within reach. Forced to do it tough last start in the breeze, she can be sharper.
SELECTIONS: MAFFIOSO GIRL (9), BIG IN AMERICA (3), OUR ULTIMATE VICKI (8), KAY NORA SHANNON (7)
SUGGESTED BET: MAFFIOSO GIRL (9) to win
BEEF CITY STARZZZ (4) is on the back-up from Thursday where he was put out of play early when forced to check off a breaking runner in front at release point. Chasing hard to grab the bronze, it was a tidy effort under the circumstances. Placed in 3 of his past 4, this looks well within his reach.
CHEYENNE AUTUMN (3) comes out of the same race on Thursday as BEEF CITY STARZZZ where she was able to lead them up over the 2040m. Only 6m from the winner at Armidale 2 starts back, she was grabbed late here when leading them up 3 runs ago. Back to the sprint trip is a big plus.
WECANONLYHOPE (5) made the most of the perfect trip in the trail on Wed night and when angled into space finished hard to claim the prize. A tidy 2nd here 3 starts back, she can chime in again.
CHUMP CHOP (8) was forced to roll the sleeves here last start when facing the breeze over the sprint trip and fighting for the bronze when 4m in arrears. With even luck here, he can podium.
SELECTIONS: BEEF CITY STARZZZ (4), CHEYENNE AUTUMN (3), WECANONLYHOPE (5), CHUMP CHOP (8)
SUGGESTED BET: BEEF CITY STARZZZ (4) to win
