The Gold Coast Turf Club will use one of their biggest days on their racing calendar to give back to the local community.

The Club have long held Red Boot Racedays to support Ronald McDonald House Charities South East Queensland.

And, in 2021, the Club will add a new layer to their contribution with the race day to be held on the feature QTIS Jewel day, this Saturday afternoon.

The Gold Coast Turf Club and Racing Queensland have partnered on a new initiative that is set to raise even more money for the charity.

The top-weight in each race will wear the special “Red Boot” silks across the program and if those colours can win, the club and RQ will donate $1,500 to the charity.

If the colours can fill the minor placings, $1,000 and $500 will be donated for second and third, respectively.

If the top-weight in the race wants to remain in their original silks, another horse in the race is likely to wear the special colours.

Gold Coast Turf Club CEO Steve Lines is excited to be able to use the “Red Boot” silks on race day for the first time and raise money in the process.

“Hopefully the colours can go past the post a few times first,” Lines said.

Proceeds from the day will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities South East Queensland, who provide essential accommodation and support services for seriously ill or injured children and their families.

The Gold Coast Turf Club have worked with Ronald McDonald House for almost a decade.

“We are proud to support them, we are a not for profit club and what we do is support local charities by supporting them and hosting events here at the track,” Lines said.

“They move this particular one around, the Red Boot Raceday, but this year it is on Jewel day and they have a full house of 500.

“I think over the nine years or so, they have raised over $300,000 in funds and that has been helped by us attracting crowds here and supporting them where we can.

“They are a great organisation to work with and we look forward to working with them again in the future.”

Lines said the Club was proud of all the charity work they do, with the Red Boot Racedays one of their major days for the year.

The big day on the Gold Coast this Saturday is headlined by the $500,000 QTIS Jewel 2YO and 3YO races, as well as the Listed ATC Trophy.
