Punter's Guide to Thoroughbred Tracks
GOTTA MOMENT (4) makes his Qld debut for the Graham Dwyer yard and arrives with some handy form in the North Island of NZ. He has been to the trials twice since arriving and both hit-outs have been impressive, the latest here at Redcliffe. If able to replicate his trial form, he should take this.
JACKS GAMBIT (1) rolled to the breeze from a 2nd line gate last start and was in for the fight when finishing 3m from the winner. Beaten 5m here 3 starts back when looking to lead throughout from gate 1, he can look for a soft trip here and be ready to take the closing shot.
FLYING WINGARD (8) was too strong when working home in top order from the back to claim a Marburg victory 2 starts back. A beaten fav off this same gate last start, he has podium claims.
BETTING BARON (9) was looking to work home wide off the track last start when mid-field behind ARK PATROL. A runner-up at his previous 2 in succession, he can look for a cart home to place.
SELECTIONS: GOTTA MOMENT (4), JACKS GAMBIT (1), FLYING WINGARD (8), BETTING BARON (9)
SUGGESTED BET: GOTTA MOMENT (4) to win
WEASEL (8) pressed forward from to find the front from gate 2 last start over the 2040m trip but couldn’t quite see it out when grabbed in the closing sages by SHADOW HUNTER. Too far back over the AP 2138m 2 starts back, he strikes a winnable race here and just needs even luck in transit.
INCITER (7) missed a placing for the 1st time in 14 appearances at Marburg last start after working in the breeze and fading in the closing stages under a sharp tempo. Grabbed late here 2 starts back when looking to take them all the way, he will need some luck from this alley but can’t be ignores.
WILD ABOUT TOWN (10) is racing in good touch and won’t find this much harder than what he has been facing. Sent forward in the middle stages he was too strong here 2 back and can feature again.
ITZ SPORTZ TORQUE (4) led them up form gate 5 over the 2138m at AP 3 starts back when grabbed in the closing stages by MORROCH BAY. He can get in the action again here and is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: WEASEL (8), INCITER (7), WILD ABOUT TOWN (10), ITZ SPORTZ TORQUE (4)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 4-7-8-10
TAKITIMU EXPRESS (6) finished mid-field last at Marburg on Thurs when trying to work into the race wide off the track after starting from the 2nd line. With a strong closing 800m set from the front, the effort was full of merit to be only 7m in arrears. He faces a tough alley here, but still looks the one.
REDDY FIRE (5) hit the line in good style last start to get within 1.5m of the winner IFOUNDTHEBEACH. Not suited when facing the breeze 2 starts back at AP, this looks a more suitable assignment and with the right run in transit will be in the mix.
MYBELLA ROSE (8) resumed from a spell the best way possible when finishing over the top to claim victory over the 1780m here 2 starts back. She faced a tougher race last start and back to this grade can feature.
WILLSINTOWN (1) wasn’t suited by the 2138m trip last start and folded the sail quickly when fading out. His run 2 back was sound without any return and from this gate can return a sharper effort.
SELECTIONS: TAKITIMU EXPRESS (6), REDDY FIRE (5), MYBELLA ROSE (8), WILLSINTOWN (1)
SUGGESTED BET: TAKITIMU EXPRESS (6) to win
GOLAKICKER (7) rolled forward to the breeze from gate 6 last start over this trip and faded in the closing stages behind the all the way winner ARK PATROL. 2 starts back as a red figure fav, she hoisted the white flag after setting a solid tempo over the 2138m. Just needs to see the space.
COULDNTBETOLD (1) has faced the starter on 5 occasions since returning from a 10-month break. A beaten fav when 1st up, he has made errors at his past 2 starts that have been costly. With good early speed, he will have the options here and putting it all together can challenge strongly.
DONNY JONES (3) was luckless on Thurs at Marburg when he never had a decent shot at them. His run here over the 2040m trip 2 starts back had merit and limiting the early burn can feature.
GOODTIME STRIDE (8) was working home in good order last start when finishing 6m from the winner SPONDOOLEY. With the option to drop to the pegs for a cheap run, she can chime in late.
SELECTIONS: GOLAKICKER (7), COULDNTBETOLD (1), DONNY JONES (3), GOODTIME STRIDE (8)
BAMBOLE NERE (5) returned from a spell with a maiden breaking win. At her next outing she struck trouble in a tougher race at AP and bounced back with a nice 3rd at her next outing. Taking on her own sex is a big plus here and despite the gate, looks to be in better touch than her opponents.
ENARMOURED (6) was locked away on the pegs over the AP 2138m trip 2 starts back and with the cosy run, tracked home nicely to be 5m from the winner GRIZZLY MONTANA. Settling in the pocket trail last start, the speed was a bit hot over the mile. Despite the wide gate she can feature.
PEGGY STARDUST (7) will need a slice of luck from this alley but with the cosy trip can look to close out late. Not suited in a much stronger race last start, she will appreciate this class.
TORQUE TO THE MAX (9) was locked away against the markers last start and never really had a clear shot to make any impact on them. Back to mares only will help and she can chime into the exotics.
SELECTIONS: BAMBOLE NERE (5), ENARMOURED (6), PEGGY STARDUST (7), TORQUE TO THE MAX (9)
SUGGESTED BET: BAMBOLE NERE (5) to win
BETTOR BECAUSE (9) overcame gate 10 last start when working home in good order to claim a 5m victory. That followed a strong 2nd from gate 9 when charging late and within 2m of the winner IMPRESSIVE DIAMOND. This looks easier than her past 2 outings and she can go back-to-back.
GREG THE GREAT (6) takes on the pacers here and despite the wide gate, can look to roll forward. A winner against his own gait 2 starts back from this alley over this trip, he proved too strong in claiming an 8m victory. He was solid last start from the tapes and can give this a shake.
POPS CHANGE (4) will take benefit from his latest outing when 1st up from a break. Finding the running line from the gate 8 it was s oud effort on return. He won’t be far away here.
THE CASUAL GOOSE (1) has faced the starter just twice in his career, the latest from gate 6 when snagging back early to find position. Showing improvement at his 2nd start, the gate helps here.
SELECTIONS: BETTOR BECAUSE (9), GREG THE GREAT (6), POPS CHANGE (4), THE CASUAL GOOSE (1)
SUGGESTED BET: BETTOR BECAUSE (9) to win
VALIANT GEM (6) started from gate 4 here on Wed night and was sent to the breeze over the sprint trip. Working hard in the run he was in for the fight when finishing mid-field. He isn’t afforded any favours from this alley, but he should find his opponents a little easier and he can prevail.
LITTLE ARROWS (4) had been racing consistently at AP against some stronger opponents and was far from disgraced when finishing just in behind them. Her past 3 have been here at Redcliffe including a close up 3rd. Forget the past 2 runs when unsuited by wide gates, she can throw down a challenge.
CHASIN DREAMZ (1) resumes from a spell following 3 starts in her 1st racing campaign. Coming into this without a public trial, she will have the benefit of the inside gate and from there has podium claims.
SELECTIONS: VALIANT GEM (6), LITTLE ARROWS (4), CHASIN DREAMZ (1)
SUGGESTED BET: VALIANT GEM (6) to win
