Heat winners draw inside boxes for Rocky Cup

Last night's heats and box draw have set up an intriguing clash of the South East Queensland titans in next week's Group 3 Rockhampton Cup Final for greyhounds.

Regal Topaz (Greg Stella), Rockford (Glenn Smith) and Regal Recall (Tony Brett) won their respective heats at Callaghan Park and subsequently, drew boxes one, two and three for the $37,500 final. 

Regal Recall completed the course in a blistering 29.79sec at his first look at the track to qualify fastest and will jump from Box 3 next week. 

The Glenn Smith-trained Rockford won Heat 1 in a time of 29.91sec, while Regal Topaz justified her $1.40 quote to win in 29.97sec. 

Runners-up Are Jay Lochie (Box 4), Pittsburgh Phil (Box 5) and Soft Sand (Box 6) will take their place in the final alongside the two-fastest third place-getters Brandi Alexander (Box 8) and Big Bad Bob (Box7). 

The final will take place on Wednesday, May 29, on a programme that will also feature the Dinky Di Web Design 4/5th Grade Series Final and the Rockhampton Cup consolation.
