Punter's Guide to Thoroughbred Tracks

With early speed and the smaller track, he can capitalise.
JUST JOSHIN (6) doesn’t have any favours from the wide gate, but has a couple of factors helping his chances. In the money at 14 of his 20 outings here at the triangle, Nathan Dawson goes back up, with his record showing a top-3 in 17 of his 23 steers on the 5YO. Hitting the line strongly last start from this same gate, he can throw down the challenge.

Mid-field to GOVERNOR JUJON the start prior, he looks to have their measure.
DONNY JONES (3) was taken off the arm last start to settle in a rearward position from gate 6 and was facing a task against the tempo. Forced to work too hard the start prior when sent to the breeze, he can look to utilise his early hustle to take control and will try to fight them off.
MISSINMEMATE (4) showed a nice finish at his latest outing when 1st up for the new stable. Closing strongly over the 2040m to get within a head of the winner, he can be in the mix again here.

ONLY IN ROME (6) found his race last start when sent forward from the 2nd line and doing it the tough way was able to hold on to claim victory by a neck. This race shapes as a tricky contest to deconstruct with the 2040m adding an extra dimension to factor in with most of these more adept at the sprint trip. Leaning to PRETTYCOMPACT (3) who might just have the hustle to get across to the pegs 1st. Hitting the line soundly last start, she chased home here behind JEWEL OF PEAK 2 starts back and is worth a ticket in this.
TULHURST KATE (8) has a handy record here at the Peninsula and was chiming in late last start to grab the bronze when 7m from the winner. Only a head behind the subsequent winner SUKI DAYO here 3 starts back, she can settle handy to the action and looks well-placed to launch a claim.
