Excitement is gathering for the Goondiwindi Race Club as it prepares for the  Bush to Port Raceday and Peter Moody Book Launch on December 1 and 2.

Pre-sales for the book launch have already exceeded expectations with 100 patrons, sponsors and interested parties keen to hear from the Queensland-bred master trainer.

Further tickets can be obtained online at trybooking.com.

It is just $10 for adults and children under-15 are free. The club is keen to promote the event as a cheap family night out. The venue is licensed so no alcohol can be brought onto the grounds and full catering services will be available on both days.

CEO of Racing Queensland, Dr Eliot Forbes has accepted an invitation to attend both events which presents the club an ideal chance to showcase what Gunsynd Park and country racing has to offer.

"We are seeking community support to assist us to make Country Racing even stronger,"  President Geoff Makim said.

“Not only do you get the chance to support your Country Race Club but it is a wonderful opportunity to hear the full Black Caviar Story and purchase an ideal Christmas Gift and have it signed by Peter Moody himself. What Peter has achieved is nothing short of remarkable and we are so lucky to have him in Goondiwindi. He has done Queensland proud”.

Patrons can purchase a book at the Nook Book Store in Goondiwndi prior to the event in case they miss out and still have it signed on the night. Call into the Nook.

Australia’s leading online reporting agency Racenet will be attending both days with Glenn Robins, a former Darling Downs identity enjoying the surrounds of Gunsynd Park.

"It will be quite a novel weekend, in fact," Mr Makim quipped.

"Not only will we have Peter as a special guest, but our Race Caller will be none other than Brett Moody, who gets a mention in the opening chapter of the book. To add even more to the Moody flavour for the weekend, local photo finish operator Adam Rutledge is unable to attend so Brett’s daughter Minnie will kindly fill in with that position. So it will be a case of Moody’s all round."

The Friday night is the book launch but also a fundraiser for the club as it strives to improve public facilities at Gunsynd Park.

It is no longer just a Race Course but is now attracting numerous uses for weddings and other functions. The club needs to keep up with requirements and so an auction of 4 or 5 items will take place immediately after the Book Launch to assist with Infrastructure improvements required.  The club will offer a portable fully insulated Esky as well as a Wayco Truck fridge, a 124 piece Repco Toolkit and a framed 2014 winning Series State of Origin jumper.

After the auction, Peter will be on hand to sign any books or memorabilia that patrons may have.

The night will continue until 10pm with entertainment from Mackenzie Timms who was recently accepted in the Griffith University Conservatorium of music.

Saturday is the Bush to Port Race Day with a number of sponsors involved in the promotion.

Port of Brisbane is the major sponsor and along with Graincorp, Interlink, Wagner’s and Qube Holdings the annual Bush to Port Race Day will be another great event. Feature event is the Port of Brisbane Cup, a Benchmark 70 Handicap over 1400 metres.

Burleigh Beachtower will once again be providing free entry as well as 5 nights in off season at the magnificent Burleigh Beachtower as a lucky entry prise.

To complete the event, the crowd will then transfer from the Race Course to the Golf Club for the annual Family Christmas Party and fireworks display.
