Munce was delighted with the filly’s final sectionals and the way she hit the line.
Pony Power clocked 51.88 seconds for the 900-metre dash which was 0.06 seconds quicker than You Know The One who caused an upset by winning the Membership At Aquis Plate (900m).
Trainer John Zielke was left stunned when You Know The One, ridden by Ryan Plumb, downed Brinkmanship by two lengths with a neck to Zielke’s other runner, Rains Aplenty.
“I’m stunned. I didn’t expect him to beat Rains Aplenty,” Zielke said.
“I only hope nothing is wrong with Rains Aplenty as he’s a lot better than that.”
You Know The One was bred by Zielke’s main owner Evan Hartley who bought the gelding’s mother Rosmerta in foal to English sire, Bullet Train.
“Bullet Train is a three-quarter brother to European champion Frankel and I encouraged Evan to buy the mother of You Know The One who was in foal to him for $3,000,” Zielke said.
You Know The One is ineligible for the Magic Millions Classic at the Gold Coast on Saturday, a race Zielke hopes Rains Aplenty will contest next January.
