Punter's Guide to Thoroughbred Tracks
A beaten red figure fav last start, SIR TIGER (9) certainly had excuses when buried away over the 2138m. A smart winner when 1st up in Qld 3 starts back, he was then forced to work too hard in a Gold Pot Final 2nd up behind CHERRYS THE BEST. This looks the right race to bounce back hard.
GOALKICKER (6) started from inside the 2nd line last start when locked away in the run she was able to hit the line in good style to be 3m from the winner and claim the bronze. Banished to the trials 2 starts back, her 2nd trial was a nice hit-out and despite a tough gate she is right in the fight.
LAUGHING EMOJI (3) comes out of that same race as GOALKICKER last time out. Pressing forward form gate 7 to cut the breeze, she only faded in the closing stages. Firing the 1st shot here helps.
BANGKOK BRAVADO (10) has the tough gate to overcome at his 1st run back from a spell but his form prior to spelling has been against much stronger opponents. Look for him chiming in late.
SELECTIONS: SIR TIGER (9), GOALKICKER (6), LAUGHING EMOJI (3), BANGKOK BRAVADO (10)
SUGGESTED BET: SIR TIGER (9) to win
BILLY LINCOLN (9) was looking to remain undefeated since arriving in Qld when sent to the post at a prohibitive $1.08 quote. Dictating terms, he was nabbed on the line and despite the defeat, he should take benefit from the run. Back to the mile looks to suit and with the right trip he can atone.
FORTES IN FIDE (11) has the tough gate but can look to get the right cart into the contest here. A winner 1st up following a stable switch 3 starts back, he worked home well for the bronze at his next outing. Beaten by a tough gate last start when chasing home, he can be thereabouts against these.
GOLD REACTOR (4) started from gate 11 last time out and was back in the pack and chasing wide out in the latter stages when not too far off them. Placed his precious 2 off the 2nd line, the gate helps.
MISS MIA (8) went to the pegs last start to look for the luck and openings when hitting the line in good style for the bronze. Another cheap run is on offer and she can probe for the openings.
SELECTIONS: BILLY LINCOLN (9), FORTES IN FIDE (11), GOLD REACTOR (4), MISS MIA (8)
SUGGESTED BET: BILLY LINCOLN (9) to win
Despite landing the outside paint at his return to racing, IMFEELINGIT (7) strikes a winnable contest 1st up. Sent for a break after a 3 start campaign with Cristina Monte where things just didn’t go to plan, he returns with Craig Cross and following a pair of smart trials in NSW, he can cash-in 1st up.
ALL MADNESS (3) was sent to the breeze off the 2nd line over the Redcliffe sprint trip last start and after working in the run faded out in the closing stages. Grabbed in the stretch by DOWNTOWN LUCCA who sat on him in the run 2 starts back, he can fire the 1st shot here and be fighting hard.
THE RAGNBONE MAN (10) started from gate 12 last start and with the race controlled in front, just couldn’t pick-up any closing ground. His win 5 starts back was enough to suggest he has claims here.
MAKINMEFEELGOOD (4) resumes from a spell as he looks to break the maiden tag. Tough in the breeze from gate 5 at his last start before going for a break, he can sneak a minor in this.
SELECTIONS: IMFEELINGIT (7), ALL MADNESS (3), THE RAGNBONE MAN (10), MAKINMEFEELGOOD (4)
SUGGESTED BET: IMFEELINGIT (7) to win
MAJOR CURRENCY (7) might have to overcome the wide gate, but he should appreciate meeting a slightly easier line-up compared to his recent assignments. A qualifying winner 2 starts back when nabbing CHARMING MAJOR right on the line, he was just too far back last start behind CLARRY.
WHATS THE CATCH (4) pressed on from this gate over this trip last start and once taking control was able to space them to score a sharp 13m victory in handy time. That was his 2nd run in Qld and from a break following a handy 1st up effort behind SPEECH IS SILVER. He will be throwing it down again.
RECIPE FOR DREAMING (2) took them all the way from gate 2 over the mile here 3 starts back and followed that with a silver over this trip. He can look to find the pegs and will be fighting hard.
WHOSTOLEMYPIGEON (8) has the early options as the lone 2nd line runner to get into the running line if needed. Placed his past 5 in succession, he will be around the money once again in this.
SELECTIONS: MAJOR CURRENCY (7), WHATS THE CATCH (4), RECIPE FOR DREAMING (2), WHOSTOLEMYPIGEON (8)
SUGGESTED BET: MAJOR CURRENCY (7) to win
AMILLION PROMISES (1) was buried away from inside the 2nd line last start over this trip and never saw space until the leader was off and gone. The closing 100m was sharp to pinch the bronze with that following a tidy 2nd to GINA MACH from the 2nd line. With peg-line benefits he looks the one.
GINA MACH (4) speared out from gate 4 over this trip last start to find the front and packed too much heat in holding on for a 2m victory. Gunned down after setting the tempo in a mares qualifier the start prior, she can look for the pegs here and if dictating will be gripping on in the stretch.
TORI MAY (8) will take good benefit from her latest appearance when returning from a 5-week break between starts. Her run was full of merit last start and with a cosy trip can probe the gaps.
OUR DELIGHT (10) was within 5m of SECRETAGENT TYCOON 2 starts back when releasing the front and using the passing lane. Claiming the silver last start, she has a tough gate but won’t be far away.
SELECTIONS: AMILLION PROMISES (1), GINA MACH (4), TORI MAY (8), OUR DELIGHT (10)
SUGGESTED BET: AMILLION PROMISES (1) to win
GOTTA MOMENT (4) landed the win at cricket-score odds here on Tuesday when working home wide off the track to nab GUNRNEEDABIGRBOAT in the shadows of the post for a smart 2138m win. 2 starts back he was only 7m from the airborne SECRETAGENT TYCOON and he can go again here.
CAPTAIN COSMONAUT (3) was locked in the 1x1 when taking on a qualifier last start and in a blanket finish was 8.5m from the winner MAJESTIC KIWI, without really seeing space to issue a meaningful challenge. Mid-field to SPEECH IS SILVER the start prior, he can be in the thick of it here.
SEEUINNASHVILLE (5) eased back at release from gate 5 to find the pegs over the Menangle sprint last start and was sound in the same race that ZAHVEN BANNER claimed 3rd. Fitter from 2 runs back, he is a big threat.
PINUP BOY (10) has some ordinary numbers next to his name in 3 runs back from a spell, but there has been excuses of poor gates and tough runs against stronger types. Despite the gate he can be sharper in this.
SELECTIONS: GOTTA MOMENT (4), CAPTAIN COSMONAUT (3), SEEUINNASHVILLE (5), PINUP BOY (10)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 3-4-5-10
This claimer looks a wide-open contest and a case could be made for a number of runners. Settling with the veteran OUR MELS DREAM (10) who has been around the money of late with placings at his past 3. He found the line in good style last start over the 2138m and can work home off the tempo.
BLUE POINTER (1) will take good benefit from his return to the track at his 1st run for the Ryan Veivers barn, who hold a strong hand in this race. Settling in the pocket trail last time over the 2138m, he fought hard despite his run ending. Back to the mile is a plus and he is right in this.
WATTLEBANK FLYER (7) charged home in the stretch here last week to arrive for the prize after watching the tempo unfold up front. The gate hurts, but finding a position he can swoop late.
CRACKA STRIDE (3) will be further tightened from his latest outing when 2nd up. Taking on a race at Redcliffe for a nice 3rd last start where the form has already been franked, he can challenge here.
SELECTIONS: OUR MELS DREAM (10), BLUE POINTER (1), WATTLEBANK FLYER (7), CRACKA STRIDE (3)
ZAHVEN BANNER (2) has returned after a 12-month stint on the sidelines in great order with a pair of wins and a pair of placings in 4 appearances. Strong in the breeze from gate 7 in a 1.51.7 Menangle mile behind MAKE WAY last start, he has the speed to take control and dictate here.
MARK OF INTEGRITY (11) worked home in good order 2 starts back from a 2nd line gate to be within 5m of the winner when 2nd up from a break. Capitalising on gate 1 last start he took them all the way in a sharp mile, closing out in a 27.5 after opening the mile in 27.2. With a trail he can chime in.
STAR OF MONTANA (9) has been in the money at 7 of his past 8 starts including a streak of 4 successive wins. Hitting the line strongly last start from gate 6, he will be looking for clear air.
TRAIN WRECK (1) was buried in the run from inside the 2nd line last start and when sighting space was finding the line in good order. Strong in the breeze the start prior, he gets the right trip here.
SELECTIONS: ZAHVEN BANNER (2), MARK OF INTEGRITY (11), STAR OF MONTANA (9), TRAIN WRECK (1)
SUGGESTED BET: ZAHVEN BANNER (2) to win
