Owners and breeders seeking to register their 2018 foals as QTIS horses can now do so with Racing Queensland providing an early payment option.

Earlier this week, RQ unveiled the registration process – click here to download the online form –  which provides a discounted first payment of $385 (GST inc) if made on or before 31 October 2019.

Foals can still become QTIS registered horses if full payment is provided by 31 July 2020.

The 2020/21 QTIS features include:

  • Standard bonuses across all 2YO & 3YO races held in Queensland (excluding black-type, feature and Magic Millions races);

  • A 50% increase to the standard QTIS bonus for 2YO, 3YO fillies and 4YO mares which win or place in a QTIS bonus race;

  • A QTIS filly winning a Saturday Metropolitan QTIS bonus race takes home almost $80K for her connections;

  • A win in a Midweek Metropolitan QTIS bonus race will see registered colts & geldings net over $28K and fillies approximately $33K (in races other than maidens);

  • The winning purse of a QTIS bonus race at a non-TAB meeting for a registered colt, gelding or entire is $8.5K, over $10K for fillies and mares and is applicable to horses of all ages; and

  • Access to the rich QTIS Jewel Raceday on the Gold Coast in March 2021 whereby QTIS registered horses will compete for more than $1.7 million.

Last month, RQ announced it would be expanding its highly successful thoroughbred breeding incentive scheme through the introduction of QTISx, which would provide bonuses on black-type and selected feature races conducted in Queensland.

To recognise – and reward – the Queensland breeding industry, RQ will also provide breeders’ bonuses, with $10,000 for Group 1 races and $5000 for the remaining black-type races and features prescribed above.

With QTIS registrations now open, RQ CEO Brendan Parnell said the organisation was committed to supporting all facets of the Queensland racing industry including owners and breeders.

“QTIS has long been one of the success stories for Queensland racing and we continue to look at new ways to be able to support the industry,” Mr Parnell said.

“The introduction of QTISx is our latest enhancement, but we’re committed to encouraging people to race, buy and breed in the Sunshine State.

“Through our bonus system – and our discounted first payment option – I’d encourage those considering QTIS registration to do so in order to make themselves eligible to race for more than $12 million in bonuses."
