Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club will cap off a busy and successful week with a charity race night to raise funds for Breast Cancer research on Saturday.

The club and Racing Queensland will each donate $100 to the cause for every pink (number 8) dog that wins on the 10-race card.

The feature race of the night will be the Lady Trainers Final (Race 6 – 7.41pm) featuring greyhounds prepared by the likes of Casey Dargusch, Serena Lawrence and Townsville’s Rhonda Essery.

Lawrence will be hoping her flyer Ringbark Bella can continue her unbeaten run at the Ipswich track (4 from 4), which jumps from Box 3, while Townsville’s Essery has Phantom Henry in Box 5.

The meeting will be the fourth held at the Ipswich Showgrounds track this week and comes on the back of a successful annual Puppy Auction held at the club last Sunday.

In an outstanding result for one of Australia’s longest-running greyhound auctions, sales grew by 226% with 206 lots sold of the 218 on offer.

Total sales grossed $904,750 compared to $217,300 in 2017.

The average sale price was down from $5,321 to $3,506, however the club increased its commission by almost 500%.
