The third round of Queensland’s highly-successful Country Racing Program is now open for applications.
Racing Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said the program was funded as part of the Palaszczuk Government’s four-year, $70.4 million Country Racing Support Package, which provides $2.6 million a year for non-TAB thoroughbred clubs to help with repairs and maintenance, along with asset replenishment and replacement.
Mr Hinchliffe said that during the opening two rounds of the CRP, more than 130 priority projects had been approved across the state, providing much-needed racing infrastructure and health and safety outcomes.
“The CRP has been a resounding success, delivering social, health and education benefits, along with dozens of jobs,” he said.
"Our four-year, $70.4 million Country Racing Support Package has been one of the Queensland racing industry’s genuine success stories.
“It ensures our non-Tab clubs can access funding for much-needed repairs and maintenance, along with asset replenishment, whilst providing jobs for Queenslanders across the state.
“The second round of the CRP created or supported almost 100 jobs and the third round is expected to do likewise.
“Country racing plays an integral role in many communities across Queensland – it’s part of our social fabric – and the CRP has delivered great outcomes for many clubs who simply could not afford to update their assets without it.”
The third round of CRP applications will open today and will run through until COB on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.
Clubs must submit one application per separate project, however, they may apply for multiple projects.
